Marilyn K. (Myers) Gregory

Marilyn K.( Myers) Gregory, 54, died Friday Feb. 3, 2012 in Spencer. She was a resident of Spencer and formerly of Greenwood. Marilyn was born July 31, 1957 in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She attended Center Grove Schools. She was self-employed as a home health caretaker. Marilyn enjoyed shopping and going to Nashville to the Antique shops. She loved working in her flower gardens and doing yard work. She was an avid horse person and enjoyed riding and taking care of her horses. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her mother, Ruth B. Howe of Greenwood, her husband, Paul Gregory of Spencer, six children, Heather M. Mc Ginn of Greenwood, George A. Weaver Jr. of Bedford, James N. Weaver, Edward P. Gregory II, Ryan M. Gregory and Kyle D. Gregory all of Spencer, sister, Karen Oakes of Whiteland and two brothers, Gary Myers of Whiteland and Douglas W. Myers of Greenwood, nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, James O. Myers. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 7, 2012 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel,729 U.S. Hwy 31 North, with visitation from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday Feb. 6, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.

Heinz J. Mobley

  Heinz J. Mobley, 62, died Thursday Feb. 2, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood. Heinz enjoyed fishing, his two dogs and watching sports on TV. He loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include, his wife, Rebecca (Montgomery)   Mobley of Greenwood, three children, Angela Lopez and Joey Oyerbides both of Texas and Richard Oyerbides of Shelbyville, a sister, Gloria Collins of Calif. and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margarete R. (Egelseer) Mobley. A funeral service will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. Monday Feb. 6, 2012 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, with visitation from 4:00 p.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.

Dorothy E. Brown

 Dorothy E. Brown, 71, passed away Friday February 2, 2012 in Indianapolis.  She was a resident of Greenwood. Dorothy was born October 2, 1941 in Indianapolis Indiana to Leo and Roxie (Speers) McClure. She was married to George R. Brown and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband George R. Brown, five children, Keith Barnes and Kevin Barnes, both of Indianapolis, Donna Sanford of Greenwood, Dawn Barnes of Bloomington and Lisa Brown of Kokomo, sister, Bonnie Van DeGrift of Indianapolis., four Brothers, Mark McClure and Andy McClure both of Indianapolis, John McClure of Franklin and Richard McClure of Louisville Ky., 12 grandchildren, 10 great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father Leo McClure. Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 1:00 p.m. Feb. 6, 2012 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. Hwy 31 North. Camden Chester “Benny” Bennett

Camden Chester “Benny” Bennett, 70, passed away Monday Jan. 30, 2012 in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Beech Grove.  Camden was born Sept. 9, 1941 in Ramsey, West Virginia to Jacob and Marie (Mc Cune) Bennett.   He was married to Iris (McNew) Bennett for 43 years.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam. He was retired from Hinder Liter Trucking Company, where he was a semi-truck driver.  Camden was a member of Bible Baptist Church of Indianapolis. He enjoyed playing with several country gospel music groups.  Survivors include his wife, Iris Bennett, six children, Roger Bennett, Crystal Garbe, Linda Gentry, Steve Lumpkin, Donald J. Lumpkin and Diana Jarvis, 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dan Lumpkin, three brothers and 3 grandsons, Thomas, Jacob and Danny Jr.   Rev. Mahlon D. Byerly

Mahlon D. Byerly, 88, passed away Saturday Jan 28, 2012 in Franklin. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Mahlon was born June 3, 1923 in Linton, Indiana to Grover and Bess (Manning) Byerly. He married Ola Mae Freeman on June 6, 1948 in Worthington, Indiana; they were married for 63 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. Mahlon was an Indiana State Police Trooper for 20 years; retiring in 1974. He enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and politics. He was a county councilman for four terms and precinct committee person for Pleasant 19. Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Byerly of New Whiteland, two children, Stephen (Kay) Byerly of Franklin and Deana Pierson of Needham, three grandchildren, Hayley Pierson, Megan Jessen, and Andrea Parsley and a great-grandson, Camden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Bess Byerly. A graveside service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012 at Fairview Cemetery in Elnora, Indiana.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Humane Society of Johnson County, 3827 N. Francis Rose

Francis G. Rose, 27, died Jan 6, 2012 in Florida. He was a resident of Florida, formerly of Johnson County. Survivors include, father, Gary Rose, step-mother, Ann Rose, birth mother, Tammy Randolph, two children, Hadassah Rose and Elijah Rose, two sisters, Chastity Mascarenas and Amber Rose, three brothers, Ashley and Steven Rose and Nathaniel Hasterlik. Pastor Marion Glover will conduct a memorial service at 10:00 a.m. Friday Feb. 3, 2012 at Emmanuel Church of Greenwood,( in fieldhouse),  1640 W.  Ralph Cummings

 Ralph Cummings, 91, went home to be with the Lord on Monday Jan. 30, 2012 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood. Ralph was born on April 6, 1920 in Bloomington, Indiana to the late John and Sylvia (Boltinghouse) Cummings. He was a Bloomington High School graduate and attended Purdue University. He was a World War II U.S. Navy Veteran. He was employed as a truck driver for over 55 years with Amoco Oil and Ryder Trucking Companies. He was a member of Emmanuel Church of Greenwood. Survivors include, his son, James Cummings, wife Sue, of Greenwood and daughter, Marsha Carlson of Dayton, Ohio, five grandchildren and eight great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by wives, Gladys (Spell) Cummings and Virginia (Huddleston) Cummings and five sisters, Hazel, Mildred, Eva, Ruby and Betty. Pastor Marion Glover will conduct a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Saturday Feb. 4, 2012 at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. Hwy 31 North. Mildred Ione (Armstrong) Smith

Mildred Ione (Armstrong) Smith, 97, died Saturday Jan. 28, 2012 in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar. Survivors include six children, Vonna L. (Bert) Basgall of Kansas, Ronald E. (Peggy) Smith of Calif., Norman E. Smith and  Verna M. Jett both of Trafalgar, Karen S. (Bundy) Rogers, of Morgantown and David A. (Maureen) Smith of Franklin, 34 grandchildren, 73 great-grandchildren and 39 great-great- grandchildren. She was preceded in death, her parents, Bradford T. and Dollie M.(Peacock) Armstrong, husband, Raymond Charles Smith Sr., son, Raymond Charles Smith Jr., five brothers and two sisters. Nathan D. Miller

Nathan D. Miller, 38, passed away Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence in Greenwood. Nathan was born March 2, 1973 in Franklin.  Nathan had previously been employed at Camp Atterbury in Edinburgh and Johnson County Sheriff Department in the jail division. Nathan was an avid arms collecter. He enjoyed hunting, his dogs, Nails and Giggy and  spending time with his family. Survivors include his father Gary(step-mother Linnie) Miller of Trafalgar, two sisters, Angie Robinson of Indianapolis, Sarah Bradley of Whiteland,  two step-sisters, Melissa (Zach) Mullis of Franklin, Ashley (Jon) Templeman of Edinburgh and  grandmother, Sharon Allee of Whiteland.   He was preceeded in death by his grandparents: George T & Marie Miller, Glen T. Allee, Rev. Clayton & Carrie Mason and  his mother, Karen Bradley.  A funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Steve Schellin at 1:00p.m. Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at the Jesssen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel,  729 U.S. Hwy. 31 North, with visitation from 11:00 a.m.until service time Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Youngs Creek Cemetery outside of Franklin, Indiana.

Zai Lim, 48, died Friday Jan 27, 2012 at her residence in Indianapolis. A funeral service will be conducted 12:00 p.m. Noon,  Monday Jan. 30, 2012 at Falam Christian Church (Calvary Baptist Church) 200 Sunset Blvd., Greenwood,IN. Burial will be at Round Hill  Cemetery in Indianapolis.

Beulah M.(Carmichael) Swift

Beulah M. (Carmichael ) Swift , 80, died Wednesday Jan 25, 2012 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin. Survivors include a son, Norman (Brenda) Swift of Franklin, four brothers, two sisters, three grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and her former husband, Ora Swift. Connie A. Townsend

Connie A. (Ristedt) Townsend, 43, passed away Tuesday Jan 24, 2012 in Greenwood. She was a resident of New Whiteland. Connie was born March 30, 1968 in Beech Grove, Indiana. She married Greg Townsend on Sept. 9, 1999 in Greenwood; they were married for 12 years. Connie was a bartender at Hi-Way Lanes in Franklin and Whit’s Inn in Whiteland for 5 years. She enjoyed doing Sudoku, bowling and riding with her husband on their Harley Davidson motorcycle. Connie was a collector of coca cola memorabilia. She was a NASCAR fan and her favorite driver was Mark Martin. She  loved spending time with family and friends having cook outs by the pool. Survivors include her father, Vincent Ristedt of Indianapolis, mother and stepfather, Shirley  and Steve (Wilson) Brizendine of Arizona,  husband Greg Townsend of New Whiteland, two children , Whitney  Mull of Greenwood and Levi Townsend of New Whiteland, two sisters, Crissy Fox of Greenwood and Kelly Ristedt of Arizona, two brothers, Paul Ristedt of Whiteland and Scott Ristedt of Indianapolis, a granddaughter Makala Kissie of Greenwood , mother- in-law, Ruth Townsend of Whiteland and grandparents, Jan and Vaden Brizendine of Mooresville. She was preceded in death by grandmother, Edna Wilson and father-in-law, Earl Townsend. Dorse Earl Groce

Dorse Earl Groce, 71, died Friday Jan 20, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis. Dorse was born on Dec. 27, 1940 in Albany Kentucky to Samuel Virgil and Reba Tresie (Thrasher) Groce. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was employed as a roofer for Superior Roofing for 15 years; retiring in 2008. Dorse enjoyed playing pool and was a big NASCAR fan. He is survived by his long time companion, Carol Duncan of Indianapolis, five children, Cindy Cornett of Georgia, John Earl Groce of Franklin, Reba Joan Munden of Greenfield, Tracy Lynn Davis and Donnie Ray Groce both of Indianapolis, eight siblings, Mary W. Aldridge of Bargersville, Sylvia G. McClure and Donald R. Groce both of Indianapolis, Margaret Hickman and Johnny D. Groce both of Tenn., Mona Underwood and Cletus H. Groce both of Ill., and Gary M. Groce of New Palestine,14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by, his parents, a stepson, Lonnie L. Duncan and five siblings, Eddie R., Roger P., Virgil B. Matthew Stephen Bennie, infant, died Sunday Jan. 15, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis. William Robert Waggoner

William Robert Waggoner, 83, died Monday Jan. 16, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis. He was a U.S. Army veteran. William enjoyed baseball and coaching baseball. He also like spending time fishing. Survivors include seven children, Wayne (Cherilyn) Waggoner of Michigan, Jean Hook of Oklahoma, David (Sharon) Waggoner of Maryland, Andy (Sarah) Waggoner of Brownsburg and Terry (Amie) Waggoner of Whiteland, a brother, George Waggoner of Michigan, and 19 grandchildren. Zelda Kay Meece

Zelda Kay Meece, 66, passed away Wednesday Jan. 11, 2012 in Morgantown. She was a resident Morgantown.  She was born March 6, 1945 in Casey County Kentucky. Zelda enjoyed doing crafts and any kind of puzzles. She loved all kinds of animals. Survivors include three sisters, L. Willidene (John) Luhn of Whiteland, Joyce Carlson of Fairland, Rosa Wood of Texas and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Royal B. and Ruth Jane (Combs) Meece, two brothers, Roy Gene and Gerald Meece and a sister, Emma Jean Meece. Kenneth E. “Kenny” Wade

Kenneth E. “Kenny” Wade, 65, died Monday Jan. 9, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.  He was born Feb. 15, 1946.  Kenny was an avid golfer and a member of the Pleasant Run golf course. Survivors include his wife, Karen (Campbell) Wade of Indianapolis, five children, Kenny Jo Wade of Indianapolis, Becky Butler, Kellie Staten, Andy and Derrick Wade  all of North Carolina, 6 siblings, 6 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, 2 brother-in-laws, Robert Campbell  of Greenwood and Jim Campbell of Texas. Tilford W. “TW” Sutterfield

Tilford W. “TW” Sutterfield, 76, died Thursday  January 5, 2012 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.  He was born January 1, 1936 in Fordland, MO to Floyd and Laura (Maxey) Sutterfield. He married Judith “Judy” McClain October 27, 1956 in Indianapolis.  He was and engineering manager for Stewart – Warner Corp for over 35 years retiring in 1999.  He was a member of the Shelbyville Road Church of Christ. He was a Sojourner, handyman and do it yourself guy. He enjoyed being on the computer and doing yard work. Survivors include his wife Judy Sutterfield, Indianapolis, two children Terry (Donna) Sutterfield, and Pam Sutterfield both of Indianapolis, a sister Barbara Rogers, Mesa, AZ, four grandchildren Tara Hatcher, Sarah Jones, Kristin Marini, Trent Sutterfield, and six great grandchildren Jayson and Promise Jones, Blake and Addison Hatcher, Grace and Faith Englert.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd, Robert, Roy and Leon Sutterfield and a sister Eula Barnett. Frank Edward Farris 

Frank Edward Farris, 68, passed away on Friday Dec. 30, 2011 in New Whiteland. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Frank was born on Feb 1, 1943 in Beech Grove to Lloyd and Mary J. (Culley) Farris. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He was employed with Amco Elevator Company as an elevator repairman for 30 years. He retired in 2009. Frank enjoyed boating, camping, fishing and watching fishing shows on television. He liked vacationing in Florida. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.He is survived by his mother, Mary Farris of Greenwood, wife, Betty (Patrick) Farris of New Whiteland, four children, Tammy (Randy) Farris of Waldron, Kathy (Harry) Stevenson of Franklin, Mary Parton and Eddie Farris both of New Whiteland, two brothers, Mike Farris of Franklin and Rick Farris of Greenwood, 15 grandchildren, Brent and Rhonda Singleton, Artie and Amber Powell, Chad Smoot, Cory Williams, Sara and Craig Buck, Holden, Pete, Kevin, and Devon Stevenson, Monica Law, Brandon and Cody Gibson, 18 great-grandchildren and the family dog, Smokey. Mary Shumaker

Mary Carolyn (Moldthan) Shumaker, 64, passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Mary was born Oct. 5, 1947 in Indianapolis to John A. and Rita (Royse) Moldthan. She married Carl A. Shumaker on Sept. 8, 1973; he preceded her in death in 2003. She was employed with Purdue University Extension Cooperative Services of Marion County as a Family Nutrition Advisor for many third and fourth grade IPS students, all of which loved her dearly and looked forward to her visits. Mary enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Indianapolis, helping children through her job, and shopping. She loved spending time with her family and granddaughter. She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, sister, and grandmother. She was a stranger to no one and a caring friend to all. Survivors include, daughter, Jennifer (Noah) Coffey of Avon, three sisters, Kathleen Findlay,  Eileen Green and Margaret Green all of Fishers, a brother, John Moldthan of Florida and a granddaughter, Alexandra Coffey of Avon. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a brother, Carl Moldthan and a sister, Martha Moldthan. Fr.  Ruth Estelle (Reeves) Phipps, 76, died Wednesday Dec. 21, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Survivors include, three children, Karen (Denzel) Reasoner of Georgia, Janine McDonald of Alabama and William( Tanya) McDonald of Kentucky, four sisters, Delores Shay of Nineveh, Dorothy (Frank) Mack of Hamilton, IN., Judith See of Austin, IN. and Janice(Joseph) Patterson, Faubush, Ky, two brothers, Richard (Edna) Reeves of Indianapolis and Paul Reeves, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary (Naugle) Reeves and husband, James Phipps. No services are planned. Cayla Whitney Ellis

Cayla W. Ellis, 2o, died Sunday Dec.18, 2011 in Morgan County. She was a resident of New Whiteland. She was born on Nov. 17, 1991 in Beech Grove to Christopher and Jody (Moistner) Ellis. Cayla was employed by Franklin United Methodist Community in housekeeping. She graduated from Kaplan College as a dental assistant. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, pets and her new puppy. She loved spending time with family, friends and boyfriend Jordan Hawkins. Survivors include, her parents, a sister, Carissa Ellis of New Whiteland, a brother, Codey Ellis of New Whiteland, grandparents, Terry and Paula Ellis of Greenwood, grandmother, Betty Morris of Franklin, and step-grandmother, Jan (Moistner) Dalton of Kentucky. Jeri L. James

Jeri L. James, 54, died Friday Dec. 16, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood. She was born Dec.28, 1956 in Ft. Belvoir, Va. She enjoyed crafts, mural paintng, and music. She was an online DJ for Radio Scooter International. Survivors include, her mother, Phyllis Preston of Kentucky, 6 children, Jason (Krya) Ridenour, Jaron (Alesia) James, Jesse Lashley, Justin Lashley all of Greenwood,  Millicent (Fletcher) Eccles of Indianapolis, and Emily Coomes of Terre Haute, a brother, Kevin (Beverly) James of Indianapolis and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Albert L. James. A funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 pm Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel with a visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Lindell U. Sutton

Lindell U. Sutton, 91, passed away Saturday December 17, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin. Lindell was born March 6, 1920 in Johnston City, Illinois to Burney and Susie A. (Shover) Sutton. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a WWII Purple Heart recipient. He married Mary A. Wilson on May 30, 1942 in Charleston, Missouri. He was a loving and devoted father and husband, spending every day by Mary’s side at Franklin Meadows. He was employed with International Paper Company in Kansas City, Kansas for 25 years ,retiring in 1981. He later was employed with the Greenwood High School as a custodian for 3 years. Lindell was very involved at the Bargersville Flea market in Bargersville as a vendor for more than 10 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by two children, Kathy (Russell) Conaway of Franklin and Sandy (Paul) Vest of Nashville, Tenn., five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Mary Sutton, two brothers, Loreen and Kenneth Sutton and a sister, Dot Vassilio. Kayla A. Witcher 23, passed away Wednesday December 14, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood. Kayla was born January 23, 1988 to Donald and Corrina Witcher. She enjoyed reptiles, motorcycles, music, the outdoors and spending time with her daughter and family. Dora Irene (Shipp) Cox Ferrell

Dora Irene (Shipp) Cox Ferrell, 72, passed away Thursday Dec. 15, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin. Dora was born on April 29, 1939 in Johnson County to the late, Charles and Mary (Koltoff) Shipp. She was married to the late Kenny Ferrell. Dora was employed with the Johnson County Sheriff Dept. as a dispatcher and matron for 30 years, then was employed at the Franklin Central High School in the maintenance department in Indianapolis for 7 years, retiring in 2004. She was a member of the women’s auxiliary at the Whiteland V.F.W. She enjoyed bowling, fishing and crafts. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Dora is survived by five children, John (Andrea) Cox II of New Whiteland, David, Brian and Roger Cox Sr. all of Franklin and Mary Cox of Indianapolis, step-daughter-in-law, Sherrie Ferrell of Brazil, step-son  David Ferrel of Indianapolis, 14 grandchildren, Melody (Brent) Schulz, Brandi (Daniel) Latham, Anthony Ramirez, Sierra Cox, Roger Cox Jr., Micha Cox, Marissa Cox, Makyle Cox, Edward Cox, Thomas Cox, Paula Patterson, Brittany Cox, Brianna Cox and John Cox and five great-grandchildren, Zuri Schulz, Madison and Anthony Ramirez Jr., Savannah and Thomas Cox Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, George and Charlie Shipp, two sisters, Louise Shipp and Frances McIntire and step-son, Kenny Ferrell. Ralph Edwin Dexter, 63, died Tuesday Dec. 13, 2011 in Harrisburg, PA.  George C. Burkert Jr., 76, died Sunday Dec. 11, 2011 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood and former resident of Indianapolis. He was a U.S Army Veteran. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping in Canada. John R. Tearman

John R. Tearman, 65, passed away Tuesday Dec. 6, 2011 in Whiteland. He was a resident of Whiteland. John was born March 12, 1946 to Charles and Katherine (Demaree) Tearman in Whiteland. He was employed as a machinist for 27 years with Allison- GM Division then transferred to the Chevrolet Truck and Bus Division for 4 years, retiring in 2000. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.  John was a member of the Whiteland Veteran of Foreign Wars and the Jubilee Masonic Lodge in Whiteland. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son. John loved spending time with his grandchildren at their sporting events.  He is survived by his daughter, Lori (Paul) Warner of Whiteland, a sister, Sue (Kenneth) Murdock of Indianapolis, a brother, Ed (Carol) Tearman of Florida, two grandchildren, Ross and Trevor Warner of Whiteland, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John C. Tearman and former wife and friend, Roberta (Duckwoth) Tearman. Nicholas Ryan “Nick” Kinser

Nicholas Ryan “Nick” Kinser, 33, passed away Thursday Dec. 1, 2011 in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Indianapolis. Nick was born on Nov. 7, 1978 in Beech Grove. He enjoyed football and was a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. Nick was a loving person and loved spending time with family and friends. He is survived by his father, Dwight Kinser Sr. of Franklin, mother, Penny Cassetty (Robert) Faucett of Indianapolis, brother, Dwight (Jody) Kinser Jr. of New Castle, four nieces, Katie, Mimi, Gabby and Izzy Kinser,  a nephew, Ike Kinser and several aunts, uncles and cousins. James E. Taylor, 90, died Monday November 28, 2011 in Franklin.  He was a resident of Whiteland. Rosemary Etta (Brenton) Duncan, 65, died Monday Nov. 28, 2011 in Indianapolis. James M. “Jim” Parrish

James M. Parrish, 53, died Saturday Nov. 19, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Whiteland. James was born on April 17, 1958 to the James Robert and Nancy Lee (Steele) Parrish in Chicago, Ill. He graduated from Whiteland High School, class of 1977, where he was active in football, track and wrestling. He was a U. S. Army Veteran. James married Judith E. Drake on Nov. 6, 2003. He was employed with J.L. Fox Inc. as a water-fire restoration technician for 8 years. James was a big fan of the Chicago Bears Football team and enjoyed watching them on T.V.  He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family and friends. James always had a smile on his face and a joke to tell.  He is survived by his wife, Judith Parrish of Whiteland, father, James Parrish of Florida, a stepson, Bradley Drake of Whiteland, a sister, Nancy Parrish of Oklahoma and three brothers, William Parrish of  Missouri, Lloyd Parrish of Florida and Ronald ( Laura) Parrish of Fishers. Richard “Ricky” Allen Colvin Jr., 25, died Friday Nov. 11, 2011 in Acton. He was a resident of Acton. Survivors include his parents, Richard Allen and Cindy Kay (Wilcher) Colvin Sr. and a sister, Stephanie Colvin of Indianapolis and niece Alexis Page. Anna M. (Goldman) Edwards

Anna M. (Goldman) Edwards, 84, passed away Thursday Nov. 10, 2011 in Whiteland. She was a resident of Whiteland. Anna was born June 17, 1927 in Posey County, Indiana to Ernest and Martha (Kelly) Goldman. She married Henry Edwards in 1955, he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, crossword puzzles, crafts, playing yahtzee and making dolls. Anna loved making candy, especially peanut brittle and playing the video game Shanghai. Anna is survived by her daughter, Priscilla Skeen of Whiteland, two brothers, Robert (Millie) Goldman of Vincennes and Arby Ray (Carol) Goldman of Mississippi, two grandchildren, Scott (Chastity) Skeen of Greenwood and Matt (Michelle) Skeen of Whiteland and six great-grandchildren, Matthew, Markus, Myles and Abbie Skeen all of Whiteland and Lily and Logan Skeen of Greenwood. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, five sisters and two brothers. Carl R. “Irish” Anderson Jr.

Carl R.”Irish” Anderson Jr., 86, died Thursday Nov. 3, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood. Carl was born on Oct. 7, 1925 in Mishawaka to Carl R. and Anna Gladys (Sanders) Anderson.  He married Mary Rose Many on March 28, 1948 in Indianapolis; they were married for 63 years. He was employed for Conrail Railroad as a car foreman for 34 years, retiring in 1982. He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran. Carl was always interested in anything that had to do with Air force. Carl enjoyed old antique cars and Indy Car racing. He was a lifetime member of the Greenwood American Legion, Post # 252. He was a charter member of the Saints Francis and Clare Catholic Church in Greenwood. He is survived by his wife, Mary Anderson of Greenwood, four children, Elizabeth (Steve) Knight of Alabama, Carla (Richard) Gargas and Gail (David) Patterson both of Indianapolis and Christian (Colleen) Anderson of Franklin, four sisters, Norma O’Hair of Avon, Shirley Shaner of Greenwood, Vivian Brown of Rosedale and Laura Lynn Payne of Bridgeton, daughter-in-law, Donna Anderson of Florida, 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Donald Anderson, a sister Colleen K. Bratcher and a brother, Robert L. Anderson. Katherine Jeanne (Sanders) Babbs

Katherine Jeanne (Sanders) Babbs, 83, passed away Monday November 7, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Whiteland. She was born November 19, 1927 in Indianapolis to Wayne and Daisy (Fields) Sanders. She married Melvin Babbs December 7, 1946 in Indianapolis. She was owner and operator of Babbs Restaurant in Whiteland for 22 years. She also worked for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield for 15 years retiring in 1990. She enjoyed crocheting, reading, being with her pets and family, being around people and was a jokester. Survivors include her husband Melvin Babbs, Whiteland, two children Melvin Luke Babbs, Greenwood, and Kathy Sue (Keith) Bolin, Whiteland, a sister Marjorie Fruits, Stilesville, eight grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Myke Babbs, and two brothers Max and Wayne Sanders. Jo Ann was born September 1, 1933 to Willis and Eliza (Carmen) Whitworth in Breckenridge County, Kentucky. She was a member of the Red Hat Society, Amity Fire Department, the Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing cards, going to the Senior Center, going to the riverboats, fishing, her family and grandchildren, and her favorite holiday Christmas. Jo Ann was a seamstress for Kajee and Franklin Mills, retiring in 1996. Survivors include her two sons Jackie (Connie) Brockman, Franklin and Gobel (Lisa) Brockman, Edinburgh, five sisters Louise, Jean, Shirleen, Dorothy, Mickey, two brothers Frank and Bill, six grandchildren Chuck (Jennifer) Barnett, Franklin, John (Laura) Barnett, Indianapolis, Crystal (Stephen) Kidd, Franklin, Alicia (Kaleb) Littlejohn, Franklin, Aaron (Morgan) Brockman, Bloomfield, Ashley Brockman, Edinburgh and 6 great grandchildren Josh and Kaylin Barnett, Ty Barnett, Jackson Kidd, Riley and Quinn Brockman. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gobel G. Brockman, a brother Wes, sisters Katie, Roseann, Eithel, Lucille, Mariam and Murry Li and a great granddaughter Kellin D. Littlejohn. Margaret “Peggy” L. (Pollard) LaFary

Margaret “Peggy” Louise (Pollard) LaFary, 84, passed away Thursday Oct. 27, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Peggy was born Aug. 19, 1927 in Greenwood to Fred and Clara (Stinson) Pollard. She was employed with the Clark Pleasant School District for 17 years in the custodial department. She retired in 1984. Peggy enjoyed baking, cooking and gardening. She loved spending time with grandchildren. She is survived by two children, James (Irma) LaFary of New Whiteland and Sheila (Dale) Houshour of Florida, five grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. He married Phyllis Richarson on May 18, 1981. He was employed with National Starch Chemical Corp in production for 12 years, retiring in 1981. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and making fishing rods. He was a master gardener and loved to cook. He loved baseball and softball. He coached little league baseball at Center Grove for 7 years. He was a member of Smith Valley Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Day of Greenwood, three children, Connie (Rick) Byerly of Greenwood, K. Mark Day of Illinois, Darrel E. Day of Florida, four step-children, Allen (Elaine) Martin and Jim (Shirley) Cress both of Texas, Yvonne (Wayne) Leslie of Louisiana, and Scott Cress of Greenwood, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. David W. Horn, 54, died Sunday, October 23, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood. Opal Mae (Collins) Grider

Opal Mae (Collins) Grider, 88, passed away Tuesday Oct. 18, 2011 in Plainfield, Indiana. She was a resident of Brownsburg. Opal was born June 14, 1923 in Colburn, Indiana to Charles R. and Nellie (Yelton) Collins. She was a contract specialist for the Federal Government at the Veteran Hospital in Danville, Ill. for 20 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Williamsport, Indiana and a member of the Brownsburg Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling, dancing and playing bridge. Opal is survived by her son, William R. (Nancy) Grider of Indianapolis, daughter, Marsha K. Lysack of Tenn., five grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, William H. Grider. Rev. Bob R. Cook

Bob R. Cook, 54, passed away Wednesday October 19, 2011 in Beech Grove. He was a resident of  Indianapolis. Bob was born June 12, 1957  in Franklin, Indiana to Robert R. and Ruth B. (Lee) Cook.  He married Laura Floyd on January 31, 1992 in Casey County, KY.  Bob owned and operated Bob’s Heavy Duty Towing in Indianapolis since 1992. Bob enjoyed old cars, wreckers, music and his Harley. He was an U.S. Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Laura Cook, four children, Chris, Kevin, Bobby Lee and Tonia, a brother, Larry (Kathy) Cook, Nineveh, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Carl Ray and a sister June Cook. Fredia F. (Cates) Looney passed away Friday October 14, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Fredia was born July 23, 1938 in Willis, Oklahoma to Walter and Fannie Cates. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking. She loved spending time with her family and friends. James Willis Holstine

James Willis Holstine, 74, died Wednesday Oct. 12, 2011 in Greenwood. He was resident of Greenwood. James was born Sept. 23, 1937 in Indianapolis. He was employed as a dock supervisor for Yellow Freight for 20 years, retiring in 2008. He was a life time member of the National Rifle Association and also a member of the Kentucky Colonels. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved his dogs like his children.  Survivors include, his longtime companion, Sue Rodgers and his dogs, Cricket “my sweet baby” and Maggie. Mary C. (Doyle) Belden, 69, died Sunday Oct. 9, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin. Mary was born on Nov. 29, 1941 in Needham to Joe Berry and Virginia D. (Thompson) Doyle. She was married to the late John Mitchell Belden Sr. Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of others. She loved spending time with her family, singing and playing her guitar. Kenneth L. McCullough Jr.

Kenneth Lynn McCullough Jr., 50, born and raised on the Westside of Indianapolis passed away Wednesday October 5, 2011. He was a loving son, brother, a devoted father and a very proud papaw. His family meant the world to him. Kenny was a journeyman electrician and active in the Wayne Township Republican party. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandkids daily, watching NASCAR , Football and trying his best to live life to the fullest and exactly how he wanted. Survivors include his parents, Kenneth L. Sr. and Judith (Bryum) McCullough, three children, Tasha (“Boots”) McCullough, Kenneth (Whitney Burcham) McCullough III, and Michael (Amanda) McCullough Sr. Sister, Debra (John) Yearwood, two brothers, Mark (Glenda) McCullough and Kevin McCullough, six grandchildren, Kevin, Jaida, RaeLynn, Michael Jr. Tiara, and Addisyn; several nephews and nieces from the Hodges and McCullough families, all from Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his wife, Tina and his dog, Hoss. He will be severely missed by his family and so many friendships he created during his life. Russell James Smith

Russell James Smith, 66, died Friday Sept. 30, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.  Russell was born July 20, 1945 in Indianapolis to Lester C. Sr. and Pauline (Roush) Smith. He married Patricia Ann Doty Jan 21, 1972 in Lawrence, Indiana. They were married for 39 years. Russell was an insulation installer in the construction business. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed woodworking, cooking and country music. He was a former member of the American Legion Post # 252 and Moose Lodge # 2079 in Greenwood. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Barbara Hommey

Barbara “Bobbie” Jean (Compton) Hommey, 83, passed away Wednesday Sept. 28, 2011 in Nineveh. She was a resident of Nineveh and a former long time resident of New Whiteland. Bobbie was born on Jan 1, 1928 in Terre Haute. She graduated from Terre Haute High School, class of 1945. She married Clifford Hommey on August 18, 1947,  he preceded her in death in 1976. She was employed for Indiana University Hospital as a clerk in the accounting department for 21 years. She retired in 1990. Bobbie was very dedicated to her family, taking care of her mother and aunt into their later years. She loved her family and spending time with them. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and going to the movies. Survivors include, three daughters, Sheryll Durbin, Michelle (John) Work and Chris Gardner, eight grandchildren, Paul (Missy) Durbin, Grace (Paul) Norton, Kevin (Pam) Durbin, James (Trina) Durbin, April (Rick) Wheeler, Danielle (Kyle) Grose, Paula (Will) Norman and Lindsay Gardner, 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, a cousin, Mary Lou (Joe) Messer and several nieces and nephews. James Chandler

James F. Chandler, 83, died Monday Sept. 26, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Whiteland. James was born on May 13, 1928 in Henderson, Kentucky to Ollie and Erma (Stone)  Chandler.  He was a foreman for Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1987.James enjoyed fishing and hunting and being at deer camp. He also enjoyed buying and selling antiques.He was on the Board of Appeals for the Town of Whiteland. He was a charter member of the Whiteland Masonic Lodge # 746.  He also was a member of the Scottish Rite and Shriners.Survivors include seven children, Beverly Chandler, Karen Parton, Glenn Chandler, Terry Chandler and Patricia Wilson all of Franklin, Brenda Woodall of Whiteland and Amanda Maxwell of Florida, 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Thomas Harold and Earl Chandler. W. Faye (Carver) Frank, 84, died Monday Sept. 26, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and formerly of St. Louis, Mo. Survivors include two children, Paulette Geyer of Whiteland and Phyllis King of Greenwood, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Cora (Hailey) Carver, husband, M.D. Frank, three brothers and two sisters. No services are planned at this time. Kathyrn Louise (Wallace) Gregory

Kathryn Louise ( Wallace) Gregory, 78, died Wednesday Sept. 21, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. She was born Dec. 19, 1932 in Union County, Kentucky to James L. and Flossie L. (Kee) Wallace. She was a caregiver and waitress in Indianapolis for several years. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She enjoyed shopping and doing wordfind puzzles. Survivors include three children, Connie J. (Jimmy) Bernard and Marketta L. Denton both of Indianapolis, Kathryn J. Koger of Greenwood and 11 grandchildren, 23 great- grandchildren and one great- great- grandson. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, James and Charles Wallace.  Esther A. ( Wagner) Buryanek, 91, died Monday Sept. 19, 2011 in Fishers. She was a resident of Fishers. Survivors include, a son, Michael J. Buryanek of Fishers, two sisters, Betty Wooden of Pa. and Helen Dimmick of New York, five grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo George Buryanek, her parents, John J. and Esther (McIntyre) Wagner, a daughter, Sandra Collins, three brothers and two sister. Leonard Marvin Leeper, 81, went to be with his lord on Monday Sept. 19, 2011, after a several year illness, in Franklin, Indiana. He was a resident of Franklin, Indiana. Survivors include his wife, Frances(Wells) Leeper of Franklin ,four children, Gary (Vickie) Leeper and Pamella Park both  of Franklin, Terry Leeper of Indianapolis, Douglas (Christy) Leeper of Mooresville, four sisters, Lettie Barnes, Lottie Kinney, Loraine Anshutz and Lena Madesen all of Iowa, ten grandchildrenand 17 great-grandchildren. Joyce Ann Jones

Joyce Ann Jones, 39, died Saturday, September 17, 2011, in Indianapolis.  She was a resident of New Whiteland. Joyce was born on May 13, 1972 in Franklin, Indiana. Joyce was a recent graduate of MMI where she was educated to service Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  She enjoyed riding her motorcycle, her dog Snookie, and spending time with her family and friends. She made everybody smile. Survivors include two children, Crystal Humphrey Mattingly of Shelbyville and Dustin Kyle Humphrey of Greenwood; mother, Linda Jones of New Whiteland; father, Dale (Gena) Jones of Indianapolis; two sisters, Joyce’s identical twin, Janice Jones Frost of MO. and Laura Jones Debernardi of Greenwood; grandparents, William and Martha Carpenter of Florida, three grandchildren, Damien Andrew Ostrum, Trinity Faith Mattingly, and Faylyn Journey Mattingly and aunts, uncles, nephews and cousins. Robert H. Peddycord Jr., 86, died Friday Sept. 16,2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. Robert was born May 15, 1925 in Pasadena, Calif. to the late Robert H. Sr. and Alice (Lodge) Peddycord. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He graduated from Washington Sate University and was a member of their alumni association. He was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity. He also was a member of the Wisemans Club- Y.M.C.A. in Calif. and on the Sports Council in Los Angles for many years. In his younger days he played baseball with Jackie Robinson. He was employed with the Parks and Recreation Department for many years and for National Sporting Goods Assn. both in Pasadena, Calif.

Carolyn (Clark) Hale

Carolyn (Clark) Hale, 75, of Martinsville (Waverly) passed away at her home Friday Sept. 9, 2011. Carolyn was born on August 11, 1936 in Old Sparta Kentucky, the daughter of the late Harry and Gladys (Marksberry) Clark. She was married to the late Victor Hale Sr. She was employed in the accounting department for Taystee Bread and Bordens Milk companies. She also was employed at the Waverly Inn for seven years and Consumer Credit Counseling Service until retiring in 1996. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and making Christmas ornaments . She loved spending time with family and friends. Survivors include, two sons, Victor Hale Jr. and Jim Hale, two daughters, Cathy Santiago and Sherri Ensminger, adopted son, Roy Bertrum, long time companion, Donald Sims, 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Tony Hale, three brothers Harry, Lester Ray, and Harold Clark, and a grandson, Jonathon Hale. Albert M. Richardson Jr., 71, died Wednesday Sept. 7, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. He was born March 30, 1940 in Newport, Maine. He was married to Sharon (Merrill) Richarson in 1984, she survives. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert M. Sr. and Adline (Vance) Richardson. No services at this time.

Dayton L. Kean

Dayton Lowell Kean, 41, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 14, 2011 at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.  His injury was related to a bicycle accident that occurred on June 6, 2011. At his side were his loving sister, Ronda Lancaster of Trafalgar and dear friends, Melanie Bruce of Indianapolis and Darla McKnight of Trafalgar. Dayton was a resident of Trafalgar.vHe will be missed by his mother, Ida (Thompson) Kean and his brother, Scott Kean both of Trafalgar, sisters, Rhoda Miller of Jamestown, Kentucky and Bridgette Rogers of Morgantown. Other survivors include five nieces and two nephews and 15 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry E. Kean and a brother H. Bryan Kean.  Dayton was born December 15, 1969 in Franklin. He graduated from Indian Creek High School, class of 1989. He received an Associates Degree in Cosmetology in 1991. He worked at several salons in Broad Ripple and Indianapolis. Dayton enjoyed spending time with his family and friends He was a great cook, home decorator and loved animals. He devoted his adult life to the care giving of his parents. Rev. Hugh Burns will conduct a Celebration of Life service at 1:00 p.m. Sunday Sept.25, 2011 at 215 South Pleasant St. Trafalgar. Maxine Bray, 75, died Monday Sept. 5, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin. John  L. Mosier

John L. Mosier, 76, passed away Tuesday August 30, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. He was born July 3, 1935 in Canal Winchester, Ohio to Lawrence and Helen (Anderson) Mosier. John married his high school sweetheart Betty Brandt Mosier on January 22, 1955 and she survives. He served in the US Army from August 1954 to August 1957 and the Army Reserve until 1962. He received a medal for establishing an administrative and technical library in the office of the Judge Advocate General, USA Army Security Agency during the Korean conflict. One of his great joys was working with youth at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis and later working with disadvantaged youth through Oak Park Baptist Church in New Orleans. He enjoyed being a counselor at Camp Olivet in Indiana, pitching for several softball teams at work and church and donating time to church and his community. John worked at RCA in Indianapolis, AMAX Coal in Indianapolis, and retired for Entergy in New Orleans in 1995. John was a member of Calvary Baptist in Greenwood. He is survived by sons Jon (Ilene) Mosier, Indianapolis, IN, Jay (Shari) Mosier, Columbus, IN, daughter, Joni (Reverend Mark) Brady, North Carolina, 4 grandchildren Jennifer (Larry) Girdler, Joe (Kristin) Mosier, Pamela (Phil) Gifford, David (Natalie) Brady, 7 great grandchildren. William E. Newkirk

William E. Newkirk, 88, died Tuesday August 30, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood. William was born March 21, 1923 in Elizaville, Indiana to Jacob A. and Mabel R. (Long) Newkirk. He was an US Army Air Corps Veteran. He married Ruth F. Lisle in May of 1998, they were married for 22 years. He worked for William H. Blocks Company in the maintenance department. He was active in the Beech Grove Senior Center and church vacation bus trips. He enjoyed wood crafting and loved talking to and spending time with his family, no one was a stranger to him. His favorite saying was “Second Tuesday of next week”. Survivors include his wife Ruth Newkirk, Greenwood, four children Robert (Sandy) Newkirk, Indianapolis, Judith (Joseph) Hess, Elkhart, Gloria Jean Smith, Greenwood and Darlene Silver, Columbus, two brothers Lloyd Newkirk, Whitestown and Floyd Newkirk, Lebanon, 15 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son William E. Newkirk, 2 stepchildren Jerry Nettrour and Sandra Lisle and 13 brothers and sisters. Patricia “Patty” Ann (Hicks) Rohrer, 57, died Thursday August 19, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Survivors include three children, Ann Hicks and Emily Rohrer both of Indianapolis and Sean Rohrer of Brazil, Indiana, a sister, Donna Allen of Mooresville, two brothers, Thomas Hicks Jr. and Richard Hicks both of Mooresville and four grandchildren, Taylor Hicks, Hannah Williams, Makenzie Rohrer and William Rohrer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Sr. and Dessie (Medsker) Hicks. A private service will be conducted at a later date.

Roger A. Lowe

Roger A. Lowe, 72, died Wednesday August 24, 2011 in Anderson. He was a resident of Anderson. Mr. Lowe was born Sept. 14, 1938 to late Laurence and Marjorie (Taylor) Lowe in Franklin, Indiana. He was married to Jane Hiatt Lowe, she survives. He received a Bachelors’ of Science- Nursing degree from Indiana University and was employed  as a Registered Nurse at Methodist Hospital and Select Specialty Hospital, retiring in 2004. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, fishing, reading English mysteries and traveling. He loved his family and spending time with his son and grandchildren. Survivors include,his wife, one son, Nathanael “Buck” (Audrey) Lowe of Anderson, a sister Rebecca Bennett of Whiteland and six grandchildren, Laurence W. Lowe, Justin O. Lowe. Haley C. Amber Dawn Morley, 24, died Friday August 19, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin. Amber was born on July 6, 1987 in Franklin. She attended Whiteland High School. Amber enjoyed listening to all kinds of music and loved to dance. She loved her daughter, Kirsten, and spending time with her and her family.  Amber had a great smile, someone wrote in a song for her; Her eyes the color of the sky, smile as bright as the sun. Iola L. Sandlin, 93, died Sunday August 14, 2011 in Whiteland. She was a resident of Whiteland. Iola was born July 27, 1918 in Bedford, Kentucky to Elmer and Mary (Wentworth) Handlon. Survivors include, four children, Nancy (David) Baughman of Franklin, Hershell E. (Sue) Sandlin and David W. (Linda) Sandlin both of Whiteland, Phyllis E. (Bruce) Collinsworth of W. Virginia, sister, Viola Giltner of Hanover and sister–in-law, Evelyn Handlon of Hanover, eleven  grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. James M. Engmark, 79, died Friday August 12, 2011 in Greenwood. He was a resident of New Whiteland.Jim was born Sept. 15, 1931 in Indianapolis to Carl and Martha (Mount) Engmark. He was employed for Allison as a General Supervisor for 40 years, retiring in 1990.He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Jim enjoyed woodworking. He was a member of the Indian Creek Christian Church, where he enjoyed singing in the choir. He was a 50 year member of the Masons and past president of Johnson Co. Shiners’ Club. Mashall C. Reed

Marshall Christian Reed, 62, died Thursday August 4, 2011 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood. Marshall was born on June 27, 1949 in Indianapolis to Marshall Ray and Margaret Louise (West) Reed. He married Doris Ann Vaughn on Dec. 06, 1980 in Indianapolis. They were married for 30 years.  He was self employed as a tree trimmer/ landscaper for more than 25 years, retiring in 1997. Marshall enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the Indiana Bow Hunters Association and National Rifle Association.  He coached boy’s Bantam football and basketball and girl’s softball and basketball in Center Grove. He had been a Cub Scout leader. Marshall loved his children and grandchildren and spending time with them. Survivors include his wife Doris Ann Reed, three children, Marshall T. Reed, Katherine A. Reed and Michael C. Reed, and four grandchildren, Addelynn R. Reed, Jaydon C. Reed, Jackson R. Lee and Isabella Lee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Margaret Reed. Kathy Fayrene (Berry) Wolford, 79, died Tuesday August 2, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Bargersville. Kathy was born August 6, 1931 in Hackleburg, Al. to Thomas Leland and Lelon (Whisenant) Berry. She married J W Wolford on Sept. 26, 1949 in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Kathy was a bus driver for 20 years for the Center Grove School Corp. She was known for giving Christmas ornaments to her kids on the bus every year. She enjoyed gardening, crafts and reading. She was a member of the Waverly Baptist Church and enjoyed going to church. Survivors include, her mother, Lelon Berry of Watervliet,MI., her husband, JW Wolford of Bargersville, two children, Jeff (Lori) Wolford of Bloomington and Kristina (Tom) Hiatt of Bargersville, two sisters, Dean (Don) Goodrum and Mary Jo (Era) Snyder both of Watervliet, MI., a brother, Roger (Judy) Berry of Grand Rapids, MI., five grandchildren, Jonathan Hiatt, Jason (Stephanie), Joseph Hiatt, Amanda Wolford and Katy Wolford, five great-grandchildren, Jaxson Hiatt, Izayah Hiatt, Brooklyn Hiatt, Ciarra Hiatt and Cienna Hiatt. Glendon C. (Beeler) Cline, 97, died Sunday July 31, 2011 in Franklin.  Valerie Margaret ( Hutchison ) Kelly, 67, died Friday July 29, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Bargersville and formerly Indianapolis and England. Survivors include, her husband, John S. Kelly of Bargersville, her mother, Kathleen M. Shelley of England and a sister, Jill Carter of Oaklanden. She was preceded in death by her father, John Shelley and a son Terry.  A private family service was held in England on Sunday, July 31, 2011.

Michael S. Jastraub

Michael Stephen Jastraub,49, of Greenwood,passed away Friday July
29,2011,after a valiant battle with cancer,in Indianapolis. He was born January
1.1962 in Livonia, Michigan. Michael was a 1980 graduate of Center Grove High School where he
participated in sports, most notably known for his skills on the football field.  Michael attended Indiana State University. He was an avid Colts fan, loved music, writing inspiritional poems and messages and all sports events.  He loved life, especially being with family and friends.
Michael leaves behind to treasure his memory and sense of humor, his beloved son Evan Jastraub of Indianapolis, mother,Barbara(Stephen)Shay of Greenwood,father, Stephen (JoAnn) Jastraub of Bargersville,sister,Terrie (Chris) Hedeen of Greenwood, brother David Jastraub of Greenwood and step-brother, Andrew(Kim)Shay of Indianapolis. Michael also leaves behind his loving niece, Chloe Hedeen and nephews, Nathan Hedeen, Ethan Hedeen, Nolan Shay and Alex Shay.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Veronica

  Wilbur W. Day, 92, died Wednesday July 27, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. Survivors include three children; David Day of Waverly, John (Charlotte) Day of Linton In, Carol (Emerson “Buz”) Moulden of Franklin, 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grand children and 9 great- great- grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Omer and Elsie (Balay) Day, two sisters, Ruth Musgrave and Lilieth Wallace. Wilbur retired from General Motors, July 198.  He enjoyed camping, motorcycles, corvettes and loved puzzles. He enjoyed visiting with friends and family He was a part of the Brookside Masonic Lodge, a 50 year member. He was an U.S. Air Force Veteran. He was a member of the American Legion and VFW. Elizabeth “Betty” (Vandivier Parsley) Hey

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Vandivier Parsley) Hey, 90, died Monday July 11, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood Village South. Betty was born August 11, 1920 in Franklin, Indiana to Clancy and Marie (Fuller) Vandivier. She was married to Norman Parsley, he preceded her in death in1960, and then married Robert H. Hey, he preceded her in death in 1994. Betty was owner, operator and funeral director of the Vandivier Parsley Funeral Home in Franklin. She was one of the first female embalmers in the state of Indiana. She enjoyed buying and remodeling homes. She was very active in the Flee Market at the Greenwood Village South that helped raise funds for Greenwood Village. She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution, Huguenot Society and the Grace United Methodist Church. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law Gail and Scott Howell of Palm Coast, Florida, three grandchildren,  Jeff Howell of Palm Coast, Florida, Pamela Knight of Okeechobee, Florida and Deahdra Shertzer of Pembrook Pines, Florida, eight great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. He enjoyed R.C. cars, building model airplanes and wood working. He loved working on all kinds of art projects. Stephen A. Rosselle, 60, died Thursday July 7, 2011 in New Whiteland. He was a   resident of New Whiteland.  Steve was born July 22, 1950 in Chattanooga, Tennessee to William P. Jr. and Olga (Warlick) Rosselle. He was employed by Rural Metro Ambulance Service as a Paramedic for 10 years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He was a member of the Whiteland Volunteer Fire Department. He was a past member of the New Whiteland Fire Department. Survivors include his former wife and best friend for 38 years, Janet Paradise Rosselle of New Whiteland, two children, Douglas T. Rosselle II and Dara Dye both of Indianapolis, two sisters, Teresa Parkerson of Rhode Island and Penny Whitley of Arizona, three granddaughters, Belhamie Walls of Martinsville, Julia and Jeana Dye of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his parents, William P. Jr. and Olga Rosselle. A memorial service will be conducted at 7:00 pm Wednesday July 13, 2011 at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. Hwy 31 North with visitation  from 5:00p.m. until time of services at the funeral home. A procession will take place at 5:30 p.m. Thursday  with the Whiteland Fire Department taking Steve from Jessen Funeral Home to the Fire Department, where an additional  Memorial service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. with a visitation from 6:00 p.m. until service time at the fire department.

 SPC E-4  James Allen Waters

SPC E-4. James Allen Waters “Jimmy”, 21, died Friday July 1, 2011 in Kandahar, Afghanistan.   He was a resident of Cloverdale.  James was born on Sept. 2, 1989 in Indianapolis to Garry and Valerie (Aldous) Waters. James attended Clark-Pleasant schools and graduated from Whiteland Community High School in the Class of 2008. While in high school he was on the wrestling and football teams. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in September of 2009. He was deployed to Afghanistan in March of this year. He had received seven medals and citations while in the military. His unit was 1^st Battalion, 32^nd Infantry Regiment, 3^rd Brigade Combat Team, 10^th Mountain Division based at Fort Drum, New York. James was a dedicated and enthusiastic soldier.   He enjoyed fishing, paintball and spending time with his family and friends. James liked to make people laugh and enjoyed having fun. Survivors include, his parents, Garry and Valerie Waters of Cloverdale, a sister, Jennifer (Ryan) Mitchell of Cloverdale, three brothers, Anthony, Andrew and Joe Waters, all of Cloverdale, grandparents, Pauletta and Gene Curry of Indianapolis and Karen Lafollette of Spencer, grandfathers, Kenneth Waters of Mass. and William (Alice) Aldous of Pa., Grandma Callon of Greenwood, niece, Emalyn Mitchell of Clovedale, fiancée Jordan Gibson of Indianapolis, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.  Rev. James R. Hart

James Roscoe Hart, 75, died Sunday July 3, 2011 surrounded by his loving family in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. James was born Jan 7, 1936 to Marvin and Bessie (Gadberry) Hart in Russell Springs, Kentucky. He married Wanda Long on Nov. 17, 1956 in Russell Springs, Kentucky. They were married for 54 years.  James was employed for 45 years in the die-setup division for Arvins in Columbus. He also was a Hereford cattle farmer for over 40 years. He enjoyed raising Hereford cows and tractor pulling. He was a member of the Hoosier State Tractor Pulling Association and National Tractor Pulling Association. He was a member of the Shiloh Community Church in Franklin. Survivors include; his wife, Wanda Hart of Franklin, three children, James Anthony (Debbie) Hart, Rhonda Janeen Hart, and Susan Ann Hart all of Franklin, two sisters, Audrey (Thurlo) Tucker of Kentucky, and Gwen (Jim) Wyatt of Ohio, a brother, Keith (Georgene) Hart of Kentucky, four grandchildren, Joshua A.(Cate) Hart of Connersville, Zachary S. Hart and Jaden (Grace) Gammon both of Franklin and Brittany (Brian ) Hall of Ohio, two great-grandchildren, James Michael and Waylon Jessie Hart. Edmund “Ed” Williams

Edmund “Ed” Williams, 71, died Friday June 24, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Whiteland. Ed was born Feb. 14, 1940 in Franklin to James and Mabel (Parmerlee) Williams. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He married Peggy Lewis on May 28, 1977 in New Whiteland. They were married for 34 years. He was owner/ operator of Ed’s Crane Service in Franklin for 38 years,  working in Johnson and Marion counties. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears football and University of Kentucky basketball. He enjoyed tinkering in the shop and spending time with his family.  Survivors include, his wife, Peggy Williams of Whiteland, three children Shellie (Tim) Warner of Franklin, Troy Williams of Whiteland and Darla Connor of Franklin, a sister, Carol (Bill) Buck of Whiteland, a brother, Larry (Sue) Williams of Franklin, six grandchildren, Jordan Hash, Cody Warner, Jamie Barnes, Ross Williams, J.R. Johnna R. Capshaw, 56, died Friday June 17, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood. Delvin Ray Williams, 76, died Sunday June 12, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. Carl E. Moldthan

Carl E. Moldthan, 65, of Indianapolis, passed away on Monday June 6, 2011.  He was born in Indianapolis on January 3, 1946 to the late John and Rita (Royse) Moldthan.  He retired in 1987, after 20 years with the Indianapolis Fire Department.  He was a member of the Local Union #416.  He was a member and past director of the Indianapolis Taxpayers Association.  He was honored in 1987 as the State of Indiana Man of the Year. He is survived by three sons Roderick, Matthew, and Jason Moldthan; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Mary Shumaker, Kathleen (James) Findlay, Eileen Green, and Margaret (James) Green; a brother, John (Debbie) Moldthan; numerous nieces and nephews. Harry D. Barton

Harry D. Barton, 73, died Saturday June 11, 2011 in Greenwood. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a resident of Greenwood. Survivors include, his wife, Myrtle  Lisa (Reynolds) Barton, two children, Byron (Christine)Barton and Michelle (Kenny) Summers both of Lebanon, two step-sons, Robert Baker of Ohio and Lonny Baker of Speedway and eleven grandchildren. Donald E. Sargent

Donald E. Sargent, 76, died Thursday June 9, 2011 in New Whiteland, Indiana. He was a resident of New Whiteland and Mt.Vernon, Ill.  Donald was born Feb. 1, 1935 in Mt. Vernon Ill. to Pearl and Lucille (Cooper) Sargent. He was a U.S. Marine Corp. veteran. He married Shirley A.Tate on May 28, 1957 in Indianapolis; they were married for 54 years. He was employed for the Federal Government as an Electronics Technician at Naval Avionics Center for over 25 years, retiring in 1996. Donald enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and repairing any electronic device. He loved air shows and local stock car racing.  Survivors include his wife, Shirley A. Sargent of New Whiteland, three children, Michael (Tammy) Sargent and Mark (Cathy) Sargent both of Greenwood, and Greg (Kim) Sargent of Mt.Vernon, Ill., one step-brother, James Alexander of Evansville, six grandchildren, Josh List, Olivia Davis, Cory, Jon-Michael, Luke, Jacob Sargent, three great-grandchildren, Jackson and Jocelynn List and Rece Davis. Timothy Patton Knapp

Timothy Patton Knapp, 27, died Saturday May 28, 2011 in Pendleton. He was a resident of Greenwood. Survivors include, his mother, Rose E. Stephen “Steve” Lefevers

 Stephen “Steve” Lefevers, 47, died Sunday May 29, 2011 in New Whiteland. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Steve was born May 22, 1964 in Indianapolis to Otis Jr. and Ruth (Dozier) Lefevers. He was a graduate of Southport High School. He married Lorri Dufek in Indianapolis on Sept. 6, 1986; they were married for 24 years. He was employed as a machinist for 14 years with NSK in Franklin. He was a Baltimore Oriole’s baseball fan and collected baseball memorabilia. He enjoyed going to horse racing and going to Indiana Live Casino. He also was a fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and NASCAR, his favorite driver was Ken Schrader. Survivors include, his parents, his wife Lorri Lefevers of New Whiteland, four children, Elizabeth, Mary, Stephen Joseph and Rebecca Lefevers all of New Whiteland, two brothers, John (Della) Lefevers of Indianapolis, Daniel (Kim) Lefevers of Greenwood and in-laws, Don and Catherine Dufek of Florida, Tom and Karrie Dufek of Beech Grove, Mary Dufek of Florida and Colleen Steinmetz of New Whiteland.  Betty Jean (Burdine) Derbyshire, 76, of New Whiteland, died Friday, May 27, 2011 in Indianapolis. Survivors include her husband, Jack E. Derbyshire of New Whiteland, three children, Bruce (Louise) Derbyshire of Greenwood, Mindy (Larry) Carter of Madison, and Kirk (Terri) Derbyshire of New Whiteland, three sisters, Virginia Roller and Frances Cox both of Indianapolis and Barbara (Robert) Lone of Clayton, four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren   Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Helen (Galyan) Burdine and a son, Michael E. Derbyshire. Geneva Bray Woodall Bowen, 86, died Tuesday May 24, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Edinburgh.  Geneva was born Sept. 14, 1924 to Elmer and Flora M. (Hyden) Bray in Somerset, Kentucky.  She was employed as a nursing assistant for 30 years, working at Welcome Nursing Home and Franklin Indiana Masonic Home, retiring in 1987.  Geneva enjoyed reading the bible, crafts, flower arranging, shopping, and gardening. Lowell E. Charles

Lowell E. Charles,88, died Sunday May 22, 2011 in Franklin.  He was a resident of Greenwood. Lowell was born March 19, 1923 in Petersburg to Harrison and Martha (Brittingham) Charles. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for Berns Construction for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving during World War II. Lowell was a member of the American Legion Post #252 in Greenwood and Operating and Engineers Local 103 for 60 years. He enjoyed fishing and gardening. Robert Lee Griffin Sr.

Robert Lee Griffin Sr., 75, died Saturday May 21, 2011 in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Franklin. Alma (Cole) Gage, 94, died Thursday May 19, 2011 in Indianapolis. Alan Kimbler

Edward Alan Kimbler, 58, died Sunday May 15, 2011 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin. He was a resident of New Whiteland.  Edward was born May 15, 1953 in Edinburgh.  He was a graduate of Franklin Community High School.  He enjoyed gardening, drawing, baseball and softball. He loved playing his guitar and listening to old blues, jazz and ragtime music. He loved his dogs Patches and Sophie.  Survivors include his mother and step-father, Ellen J. (Michael) and Edward F. Miller of Nashville, a sister, Annette Kimbler of New Whiteland, a brother, James M. Kimbler of Indianapolis and a niece Jennifer Kelley of Indianapolis.  He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Kimbler.  A private family service was held at Greenlawn Cemetery in Franklin. Tracy Louise (Harrington) Yattaw

Tracy Louise (Harrington) Yattaw, 45, died Tuesday May 17, 2011 in Indianapolis.  Survivors include her husband, Mark Alan Yattaw; three sons, Chad Alan, Daniel Joseph and Mark Edward Yattaw; father, Leonard Harrington; mother, Susan Garner (Marlin) Mallory; a sister, Tara Harrington Peacock; grandfather, Joseph Dobson and seven grandchildren. John H. Gravely, 82, died Thursday May 12, 2011 in Beech Grove. David A. Kelsay

David Anthony Kelsay,60, died May 9, 2011 in Indianapolis, IN.  He was a resident of Whiteland.  He was owner and operator or David A. Kelsay Inc. for 35 years.  He was a member of the Whiteland Jubilee Lodge #746, Scottish Rite, and on the Whiteland Town Council for 20 plus years.  He was  a former Whiteland police officer and a volunteer fireman for the Whiteland Fire Department.  He loved family time and spending time with his grandchildren.  Survivors include his wife Pat Pendleton Kelsay; two children Cynthia Marie (Grover) Stone of Whiteland and Jon David (Laura) Kelsay of Whiteland; a sister Cynthia Sue Kelsay of Indianapolis; a brother Ronald William (Clarellen) Kelsay of Franklin; four grandchildren Kelsay Leigh Bradley, Allison Mae Bradley, Johanna Renee Kelsay, and Jake Anthony Kelsay all of Whiteland.  He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas William and Ruby Alice (Paris) Kelsay, and a brother Doug Kelsay.  There will be public calling from 2-5 on Saturday May 14 at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N US HWY 31.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jubilee Lodge #746,  39 S. Lee was born May 2, 1932 to Lee D. and Mary (Baker) Roberts in Enola, AK.He was a U.S. Marine Veteran, servicing during the Korean War.He was employed at GM Allison Transmission for 28 years retiring in 1999. Barbara Jean Shipley

Barbara Jean (Canfield) Shipley, 70, died Friday April 22, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.Barbara was born on April 16, 1941 to John Harrison and Ines Lavonne (Clegg) Canfield in Madison. She married Robert Shipley on Sept. 4, 1957 in Madison. They were married for 53 years. She was a homemaker. Barb enjoyed garage sales, fishing and traveling. She loved cooking and entertaining with her family. She was a long time member of Indianapolis Baptist Temple in Indianapolis. Survivors include her husband Robert Shipley of Greenwood, three children Collette (Paul) Chatterton of Martinsville, Cynthia (Kevin) Mongan of Mooresville, and Beth Ann (Myron) Davis of Greenwood, four sisters, Betty Hockensmith, Nancy Crozier, and Melanie Lyon all  of Madison and LaDonna Rue of Franklin, two brothers, Jerry and David Canfield both of Madison, seven grandchildren, Sara and Jacob Despot, Ryan Chatterton, Melissa, Vanessa and Ross Davis and Abigail Mongan and two great-grandchildren, Carson and Krista Despot. He was a resident of Greenwood.He was employed as a truck driver for Roadway Express for 30 plus years and had a 3 million miles safe driving record.He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard and debating with anyone about politics. He loved his church, Independent Nazarene Church in Beech Grove and reading the bible. Richard R. “Dick” Miller, 78, died Wednesday April 6, 2011 in New Whiteland. He was a resident of New Whiteland.Dick was born March 31, 1933 in Indianapolis  to Elmer R. and Delma M. (Mc Kinney) Miller.He was employed at Wallace Tool and Die Company for 20 years, then became owner and operator of R. Miller Plumbing  for 1o years, retiring in 1976.He enjoyed fishing, collecting tools and all kinds of stuffed animals. Hobert L. Frost

Hobert L. Frost, 77, died Wednesday April 6. 2011in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin.  Hobert was born Setpt. 3, 1933 in Russell Springs, Ky. to Hobart T. and Gertrude F. (Gentry) Frost.  He married Patricia Whetstine on May 13, 1952 in Nineveh. They were married for 58 years.  He was a construction worker most of his life, in later years, he was employed  with the U.S. Post Office in Franklin in the maintenance department, retiring after16 years of service.  He was a U.S. Marine Corp.Veteran.  He loved gardening and deer hunting. He was a member of the Franklin Memorial Christian Church and the American Legion Post in Franklin. Joe F. Heath Jr.

Joe Fletcher Heath Jr., 67, died April 5, 2011 in Frostproof, Florida. He was a resident of Frostproof and former resident of Indianapolis.  Joe was born April 20, 1943 in Indianapolis to Joe F. Sr. and Joy R. (Reed) Heath.  He graduated from I.U. with a Bachelor’s degree in Astronomy, where he was employed at Avco Everett as a principal senior research scientist in space research in Hawaii for 17 years, then return to Indianapolis where he was the CEO of Accurate Machine Company for 10 years, retiring in 2005.   He was married to Anita (Smith) Heath for 12 years.  Joe enjoyed diving, snorkeling, hunting and fishing and was a member of the N.R.A.    Survivors include, his wife, Anita Heath of Frostproof, his mother, Joy Heath  two children, Sheryl (Mike) Babington and Joe F. (Melissa) Heath III, three step-children, Brice (April) Bradley, Kevin Bradley and Merinda (Patrick) Romero ,an aunt, Jeanne Heath, a cousin, Bob Heath,nine grandchildren, ten step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his father, Joe F. Charolette Lynn Calhoun

Charolette Lynn(Bland)Calhoun, 60, went home to with her Lord and Savoir, Jesus Christ, Friday April 1, 2011. She was a resident of Franklin.  Charolette was born March 23,1951 in Sonora, Kentucky to Johnie A. and Katherine R. ( Sharp ) Bland.  She attended school in Sonora,Ky. and Franklin.  She was employed at Arvins for 25 years, retiring in 1990.  She married  Melborne Ash in 1970, and then married Alvin N. Calhoun in 1975.  She was a member of Charity Fellowship Church in Franklin.  She enjoyed talking to anyone about the Lord and asking them to church.  She enjoyed crafts, reading the bible, listening to gospel music, going to garage sales and making fudge for her family and friends. She loved spending time with her children and especially her grandchildren.  Survivors include, three children, Kimberly (Jeff) Payton of Whiteland, Nathan (Angela)Calhoun and Alicia (Jamie) Elfers both of Franklin, a sister, Gail Hebestreit of Edinburgh and four grandchildren, Paige Harris and Keali Dewey both of Franklin, Monique and Joshua Payton both of Whiteland, two nieces, Kathy Switzer of Greenwood, Jeannie Rupe of Franklin and a nephew, Johnie “A.J.” Bland III of Franklin, several aunts and uncles.  She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a brother, Johnie Bland Jr. and several aunts and uncles.   Rev. Michael R. Koss, 58, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on Monday, March 28, 2011. He is survived by brothers Stephen L. Koss of New York City and Robert N. Koss of Martinsville, two nieces and a nephew.He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard W.and Eileen Helen (Ens) Koss. William Eugene Leslie

William Eugene Leslie, 68, died Sunday March 27, 2011 in Indianapolis.  He was a resident of Indianapolis.  Survivors include, his wife, Sharon (Siddons) Leslie of Indianapolis, a daughter, Beth Ann (Kevin) Yorn of Fishers, two sisters, Cheryl (Darwin) Scott of Carmel and Elaine (Ernie) Austin of Nashville, two brothers, Elmer (Judy) Leslie of New Mexico and Steven (Denise) Leslie of Texas and three grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer N. and Beatrice (Setser) Leslie and a brother, Richard Leslie.  A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00pm Thursday in the Benjamin Franklin Chapel at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood with burial immediately following.  Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society or Indiana Disabled Veterans Wish Foundation.   Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Charmie Clawson

Charmie “Tex” Bernard Clawson, 74, died Sunday March 27, 2011 in Bradenton, Florida. He was a resident of Morgantown.   He was born March 30, 1936 in Mount Vernon, Texas to Winnie Wilburn and Novella (Mote) Clawson.  He married Rebecca “Becky” Sue Pope on April 20, 1980.   He was a carpenter with the Carpenters Union in Indianapolis working in construction.   He enjoyed fishing, being at the ocean, attending and at a younger age participating in rodeos.   He was a member and former associate pastor of Mt. Pleasant Christian Fellowship Church in Greenwood.  Survivors include, his wife, Rebecca Clawson of Morgantown, ten children,  Darrel Clawson of Nashville, Paul (Felicia) Clawson, Gina Sandner, Robin Clawson and Trina Shelton all of Taylorsville, Ricky(Donna) Burns of Bloomington, Jackie (Becky) Burns, Angela (Dylan) Whitaker, Jennifer(David) Vaught all of Morgantown, and Nancy (Mike) Napier of Virginia, a sister, Jean Stewart of Texas, a brother, Wilburn Beau Clawson of Texas and 20  grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, J.B. Donald Bruce Fisher

Donald Bruce Fisher, 77, died Monday March 28, 2011 in Franklin. He was a resident of New Whiteland.   Donald was born Feb. 17, 1934 to Thomas B. and Inez M. (Duffie) Fisher in Waukegan, Ill.  He was married to Stella Marie (Brown) Fisher, she preceded him is death in 2008.  He was employed as a design engineer and commercial artist for Precision Rubber Plate and then for Micro Metl Corp. He was owner and opertator of a sheet metal fabrication company, Amcon Inc., for 10 years.  He retired in 1988.  He enjoyed fishing, drawing pictures, classic cars, building and flying remote controlled airplanes.  He loved to ride his golf cart around New Whiteland.  His accomplishments include; writing and illustrating the book, Reptiles Past and Present, winning a drawing contest for Campbell’s Soup Labels and a radio contest for drawing the best Purple People Eater.   Survivors include, five children, Victoria Ann (Ronald) Taylor and Donald K. (Denise) Fisher both of Indianapolis, Brian Dean Fisher and Mark Alan Fisher both of New Whiteland, and Brenda Marie (Damian) Katt of Greenwood, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild and his second cousin, science fiction writer, Ray Bradbury.  He was preceded in death also by his parents and a brother, Thomas F. Glenn Michael Burton

Glenn Michael Burton, 82, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Indianapolis.  Glenn was born March 13, 1929, in Bloomington, to Arthur and Alice (Thompson) Burton.  He married Roberta F. Harkins on May 24, 1957, in Indianapolis.  He was a machine operator at Detroit Diesel Allison for 20 years, retiring in 1987.  He was a proud member of American Legion Post 252 in Greenwood. He loved spending time with his family and friends.  Survivors include his wife, Roberta F. Burton of Indianapolis; three children, Robert W. Burton of Greenwood, Glenn M. (Krista) Burton Jr. of Carmel and Joseph M. Burton of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Joe, Cassy, Travis, Tyler, Jessica and Kellie Burton; and two great-grandchildren, Delaney and Aubrea Burton.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur Burton and Alice Mattox; two brothers, John and Jerry Burton; and three sisters, Marjorie McLaughlin, Sally Allen and Patty Salbeck.  A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. April 2 at American Legion Post 252, 334 U.S. 31 South, Greenwood.  Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, is handling arrangements.

 

 

Douglas Lee Kelsay

Douglas Lee Kelsay 57, died Sunday March 20, 2011 in Beech Grove Indiana.  He was a resident of Indianapolis, and a former resident of Whiteland.Douglas was born July 5, 1953 in Franklin, Indiana to Thomas William & Ruby Alice (Paris) Kelsay. Douglas had been a concrete finisher at American Pre Cast in Indianapolis for 18 years.He was a graduate of Whiteland High School Class of 1972, where he excelled in football.  Douglas attended Northwood Institute in Midland Michigan again where he excelled in football.   Doug was an avid Chicago Bears fan, and loved football at all levels.  He was a past member of Whiteland Baptist Church.Survivors include:  1 sister:  Cynthia Sue Kelsay, Indianapolis, 2 Brothers:  Ronald William (Clarellen) Kelsay, Franklin, David Anthony (Pat) Kelsay, Whiteland.3 nieces, 1 nephew, 4 Great Nieces, 3 Great Nephews  Douglas was preceded in death by his parents.Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Saturday at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N US Hwy 31.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Doug Kelsay Memorial Football Scholarship Fund c/o Whiteland Community High School, 300 Main St., Whiteland, Indiana 46184.

Joshua Lewis Patterson, 26, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, in Greenwood. He was a resident of Greenwood.  Survivors include his mother, Sally (Harris) Patterson of Greenwood; his father, Bobby G. Mary Kathryn (Alumbaugh) McCammon

Mary Kathryn (Alumbaugh) McCammon, 93, died  Thursday  March 17, 2011 in Franklin. She was a resident of Trafalgar.  Mary was born Dec. 16, 1917 to Claude and Ruth (Spangler) Alumbaugh in Sullivan County, Indiana.  She was a homemaker and loved to cook. She enjoyed reading, word search, puzzles and cross stitching.   Survivors include, a daughter, Sue (Porter) Shepherd of Trafalgar, two grandchildren, Alicia (Bryan) Davenport of Franklin and Chris Shepherd of Florida, four great-grandchildren, Rick and Jared Davenport, Seth and Levi Shepherd.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Jenny Shepherd and Frieda   McBride and two brothers, Lewis and Loren Alumbaugh.  Rev. Rosamond Bernice ( Leffler) Smith, 83, died Saturday March 12, 2011 in Franklin.  She was a resident of Franklin.  Survivors include, seven children, Stephen A. Smith and Carolyn L. McNicholas both of Shelbyville, Danny E. and Ronnie K. Smith both of Indianapolis, Jeffery A. Smith of Milan, Linda S. Coar of Noblesville, Tammy K. Chelsey Craig

Chelsey Marie Craig, 20, died Friday, March 11, 2011, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin.  Chelsey was born June 11, 1990, to Mark and Bonnie (Elower) Craig in Beech Grove.  She attended Clark-Pleasant Academy and graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 2009. She was attending Ivy Tech Community College.  She enjoyed four-wheeling, roller skating, camping and swimming. She collected Barbie dolls and Ty Beanie Babies.  Chelsey tutored several students in math and science and volunteered at the Johnson County animal shelter.  Survivors include her parents, Mark and Bonnie (Elower) Craig of Franklin; her daughter, Kirstyn Craig of Franklin; a brother, James D.(Jenny) Sheard Jr. of Indianapolis; her grandmother, Etta Olmstead of New York; and several aunts and uncles, David and Julie Craig of Indianapolis, Rebecca Franklin of Indianapolis, Scott Wessels, Cheryl Hawkins, Keith and Karen Hawkins all of New York, Linda and Sean West of Connecticut.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Clarence Edgar Elower and William Ray and Betty Jane Craig; a nephew, Matthew Sheard; and a cousin, Scott Franklin.  A funeral service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Gerald F. Ross

Gerald F. Ross, 82, died Sunday March 6, 2011 in Greenwood. He was a resident of Franklin.  Gerald was born Jan.1, 1929 to Frank and Lulu (Greer) Ross in Rollie, Kentucky.  He was married to Virginia Simpson on Sept. 9, 2000.  He was employed for General Motors as a machinist for 37 years, retiring in 1981. He was well known as an Auctioneer in Johnson and surrounding counties for 57 years.  He was a member and past master of the Franklin Masonic Lodge and a member of the V.F.W. in Whiteland.   Gerald enjoyed fishing, western movies and helping people.  Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ross of Franklin, nine children, Terry ( Bernie) Rodriguez of Franklin, Sharon (Jim) Brooks of Bowling Green, In., Karen Brown, Brenda (Donnie) Creech and Cathy (Marshall) Bryant, all of Indianapolis, Bonnie ( Jimmy) Decker of Beech Grove, Joe (Cindy) Cothran of Trafalgar, Terry Cothran of Franklin, Gary (Patty) Cothran of Mooresville, four sisters, Barb Bridges, Pam Zimmerman, Hilda Cooper all of  Franklin and Mary Radford of Florida, a brother, James Ross of Whiteland, 28 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Eva (Overstreet) Ross, a sister, Ann Patrick, three brothers, Russell, Doug, and Hercules Ross.   A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel. Kenneth E. Dale, 78, passed away Saturday March 5, 2011 in Franklin. Myrna Lynn Wright

Myrna Lynn (Goodman) Wright, 67, died Saturday, Feb. 26 2011, in Trafalgar. She was a resident of Franklin.  Myrna was born May 26, 1943, in Franklin, to Ira and Oma K. (Goode) Goodman.  She was employed in production with Arvin Automotive in Franklin for several years. She also enjoyed working at Walter’s Truck Stop in Franklin for many years.  Myrna enjoyed going to casinos and listening to musician Randy Travis.  She was a giving person and loved helping family, friends and others.  She was a member of Christian Community Church in Whiteland.  Survivors include two children, Debra Kay Lane-Trammell, husband, John, of Trafalgar and Bryon Wright of Franklin; a sister, Linda Burry of Indianapolis; a brother, Thomas Goodman, wife, Roberta, of Mooresville; a grandson, Lucian Thomas B. Wright; and extended family, Deborah Garrett and Christopher J. Joanna Randol

Joanna E. ( Maffit) Randol, 85, died Monday Feb. 21, 2011 in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.  Survivors include, four children, Randy L. Randol of Greenwood, Ronald Randol, Richard Randol and Ralph “Eric Cox” Randol, all of Indianapolis, a sister, Patricia Maffit of Greenwood and five grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents, A Dwight Sr. and Annabelle (Fitzpatrick ) Maffit, her husband, Harold G. Richard Lee Raasch

Richard Lee Raasch, 83, died Wednesday, February 23, 2011in Greenwood.  He was a resident of Greenwood.  Richard was a loan executive (from Indiana Insurance to the United Way) who enjoyed bowling, golf, racquetball, church activities, coached little league, and enjoyed singing in the choir.  He was the former vice president for Indiana Insurance and retired from there in 1993 after 42 years.  Richard served the Navy in the Korean War and in World War II.  Survivors include his spouse Rebecca Helen Raasch; five children, Amy N. Raasch, James E. Raasch, Randall G. Law, II, Gretchen A. Jaynes, and Steve Raasch; a sister Jean Holtz; grandchildren Jamy Tucker, Brian Raasch, Nick Raasch, Erin Bollhorst, Derek Raasch, Caleb Jaynes, Makenna Jaynes, Isaac Jaynes, Jordan Law, Matthew Moore, Eve Cole; and great grandchildren Isaac Bollhorst, Peyton Bollhorst, Angelica D. Carolyn Kay (Fluke) Reading, 70, died Saturday Feb. 19, 2011 in Beech Grove. She was a resident of New Whiteland.  Carolyn was born on August 23, 1940 to Carl and Merle (Sawyer) Fluke in Martinsville, Indiana.  She enjoyed square dancing and collecting angels and loved traveling. Roberta (Wilson) Baughn, 90, died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Whiteland.  Survivors include three children, Barbara Vaught of Indianapolis, Nellie (Jim) Webb of Carmel and Sandra (Kevin) Coy of Whiteland; two sisters, Eulah Norris of Martinsville and Orene Clowers of Michigan; one brother Pudd Wilson; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.  She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary (Dobbs) Wilson; her husband, Harvey Baughn; a sister, Marie Cutshaw; and two brothers, Barney and Red Wilson.  No services will be conducted.  Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, is handling arrangements.

Judy Ellen Bray

Judy Ellen (Hancock) Bray, 42, died Thursday, Feb. 10, 2011, in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin.  She was born July 13, 1968, in Indianapolis, to Ray and Carolyn S. (Wilkerson) Hancock.  Judy was married to James R. Bray and was a homemaker. She enjoyed collecting unicorns and angel figurines.  Survivors include her husband, James Bray of Franklin; two children, Nathaniel Bray and Ashley (Shane Lovins) Bray, both of Franklin; her father, Ray Hancock of Greenfield; two sisters, Linda Gallup of Kentucky and Gloria Long of Nineveh; three brothers, Mark Hancock of Greenfield, Dennis Hancock of Brown County and Kip Hancock of Bedford; and a granddaughter, Katrina Tewell.  She was preceded in death by her mother, Carolyn Hancock.  A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday at Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel, 197 E. Shirley Eugene “Andy” Anderson, 80, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2011, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Greenwood.  Survivors include his wife, Margaret L. (Barnd) Anderson of Greenwood; seven children, William (Anita) Archer of Arizona, Gail (Bobby) Canter and Minnie (Larry) Hoskins, both of Indianapolis, James (Tanya) Hulen of Greenwood, Robert Engel­­king of Illinois, Debbie (Ed) Schmeler of Whiteland and William (Lisa) Hulen of Arkansas, 16 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys (Edwards) Jones; father, Russell Anderson; stepfather, Ray Sadler; brother Kenneth Edwards; and three grandchildren.  A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 U.S. 31 North. Margaret Shumway

Margaret (Miller) Shumway, 87, died Monday, Jan. 31, 2011, while visiting her daughter, Janet Gerking, in Florida, where she was able to meet her great-grandson, Jack Gerking.  She was born June 20, 1923, in Indianapolis.  Her children, grandchildren and their spouses, Janet and Shelby Gerking; Susan and Greg Johnson; Evan, Andrea, and Jack Gerking; and Juliet Johnson will miss her wit, wisdom and grace. Her loving sisters, Elizabeth Johnson and Virginia McGriffin; and her nieces and nephews continue to share the stories of Margaret’s courage and humor.  The light of her life, her husband, Jack, was a medic in World War II and a machinist at the Naval Avionics Center in Indianapolis.  Margaret raised her daughters and pursued a career at Fort Benjamin Harrison and Danner’s in Indianapolis. In retirement, she mastered the iMac and cultivated her interest in literature. Her iPod was loaded with the works of Dumas, Connelly and Twain. She loved the Three Tenors, Deanna Durbin movies and the Bible. She could argue the merits of a subtitled film with the sharpest of critics.  She drove her trusty Dodge from her home in New Albany across the bridge to church in Louisville, Ky., every Sunday and celebrated her faith with the wonderful ladies of the Ruth Class at Broadway Baptist Church.  Margaret will be buried next to her husband Jack and son David on Tuesday at Greenlawn Ceme­tery in Franklin.  Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Jessen Funeral Home, Franklin Chapel. Rodney Branine, 61, died Sunday, January 30, 2011 in Greenwood, IN.  He was a resident of Greenwood.  Survivors include: his wife, Donna Branine of Greenwood;  his parents, Dr. Clinton L. and Mildred (Munk) Branine of Greenwood; four children, Aaron M. Rodney Frith, 49, passed away on January 25, 2011 in Whiteland where he was a resident.  He is survived by his wife Joan Marie (Rieman) Frith of Whiteland; parents, Bobby J. and Phyllis Frith of Whiteland; children Natalie Frith (Geoffrey Gooch) of Lafayette, IN and Gabrielle Marie Frith of Whiteland; a sister Brenda Best Frith of Nineveh, IN; exchange daughters, Linda of Germany, Min Jung of South Korea, Maria of Brazil, Pang of Thailand, and Mean of Thailand; in law Edward Rieman; his dog Moose and his cat Daisy.  He was preceded in death by his mother in law Jean Rieman and grandparents Grady and Rachel Passmore,  Tom and Mary Frith. There will be a memorial service held at the Jessen Funeral Home, Whiteland Chapel, 729 N. Phillip Daniel Moellendick, 63, died Saturday, Jan. 22, 2011. He was a resident of Franklin. Norma L. (Furlow) Roscow, 82, passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011, at Homeview Health and Rehabilitation Center in Franklin. She was a resident of Franklin and a former resident of Illinois. Norma was born Aug. 11, 1928, in Christopher, Ill., to the late Otis L. and Della M. (Rowland) Furlow. She was a retired teacher and homemaker. She enjoyed reading, doing word puzzles and writing in her journal. Dorothy Karen (Todd) Mavity, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Indianapolis. Johnny Glenn Gregory, 67, died Friday, Jan. 14, 2011, in Franklin. He was a resident of Franklin. Johnny was born May 11, 1943, in Franklin, Ky., to Edward P. and Ruth B. (Grace) Gregory. He married Patricia A. McGee on Feb. 22, 1963. They were married for 47 years. He was employed by Navistar for 27 years in the truck engine manufacturing division. He retired in June 1997. He was a member of Bargersville Church of Christ for the past 10 years. He enjoyed reading his Bible, watching Western movies and collecting model cars. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Gregory of Franklin; two children, Timothy Dean Gregory of Franklin and Ruth Ann (Kevin) Engle of Indianapolis; three brothers, Leonard (Susie) Gregory of Indianapolis, Christopher (Anita) Gregory of Bargersville and Randy Gregory of Beech Grove; five grandchildren, Maria Nicholle Gregory, Timothy Dean Gregory II, Daniel Joseph Murphy and Elizabeth Elaine Murphy, all of Indianapolis, and Tiffany Noel Dollar of Franklin; and three great-grandchildren. Claudia L. (Dark) Hickey, 53, of Greenwood, passed away peacefully Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, after her life was disrupted by a two-year battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.Claudia was born Nov. 21, 1957, in Muncie, to Kyle and Patty Dark. She graduated from Muncie Central High School in 1976. She was the wife of Thomas “Tom” Hickey.Claudia touched many lives through her work at Whiteland Community School Corp. and her home party planning businesses, Colesce, Bittersweet Candles and Undercover Wear. Claudia was an avid supporter of Whiteland Community High School football. Victor Lee Pennell, 50, died Wednesday Jan. 5, 2011, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Camby. Vic was born Feb. 20, 1960, in Lansing, Mich., to John “Jack” and Jacqulyn (Whitford) Pennell. He attended Eastern High School in Lansing. He was a U.S. Army veteran.He loved fixing and working on cars and riding his motorcycle. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Lenny L.
