Robert N. Spaulding, 31, died July 21, 2010 at his residence in Indianapolis. Survivors include his parents Douglas Spaulding and Mary Jo (Beaman) Spaulding; 1 daughter Lilly Magers, Indpls; a sister Debbie Spaulding, Indpls; a step brother Jeff Grismore of Logansport; and a step sister Misty Gillispie. Other survivors include: Roberta Beaman, Inpls; Bob and Rita Kuester, Minnesota; Jim and June Spaulding, Elwood, IN. Robert was preceded in death by his grandfather Jack Beaman. Thomas J. Brown, 40, passed away Wednesday July 14, 2010 in Morgantown. He was a resident of Morgantown. Judith Kathleen (Milligan) Wininger, 73, died Monday, July 12, 2010, in Franklin. She was a resident of New Whiteland. Survivors include her husband, Alfred Wininger of New Whiteland; three children, Shannon (Robert) Lane of New Whiteland, Julie (James) White of Greenwood and Jason (Alyson) Wininger of Indianapolis; a sister, Linda (Ron) Magill of English; and a granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Rosalene (Cottner) Milligan.

Dorothy Jane (Thompson) McKee, 95, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at her home in Franklin.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Ellen McKee of Franklin; a son, John Leonard McKee of Franklin; two sisters-in-law, Mary Alice McKee of Franklin and Viola McCellan of Florida; two nephews, Harold and Allan McKee, both of Franklin; two nieces, Becky Ridge and Carol Patterson, both of Franklin; and 10 great-nephews, five great-nieces, 15 great-great-nephews and 13 great-great-nieces, who all were like grandchildren to her.

Norma Jean "Peanut" Burkert, 79, died Friday, May 28, 2010, at her residence in Nineveh.
Norma was born Oct. 17, 1930, in Indianapolis to Anseln J. and Zola Burkert.
She was employed for 30 years at Indiana Bell as a data systems analyst. She enjoyed the outdoors and fishing. She loved taking care of her home.Survivors include her friend of more than 30 years, Rosemary Sandy; and many other friends and neighbors. Jeannette Lynn Hignight, 55, died Sunday, May 30, 2010, in Greenwood. She was a resident of Greenwood.
Jeannette was born Sept. 30, 1954, in Indianapolis, to the late Russell R. Sr. and Mabel J. (Hook) Hignight.
She was an Indianapolis police officer, retiring after 21 years of service. At the time of her death, she was employed as a security officer for the U.S. Marshals Service at the federal courthouse in Indianapolis.
She enjoyed the outdoors, camping, horseback riding, gardening and decorating her home. Jeannette loved her family and animals and spending time with them. Kathryn L. McClure, 86, died Thursday, May 27, 2010, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.
Kathryn was born on Dec. 17, 1923, in Indianapolis, to William R. and Ivy L. (Whelan) Walton. She married Robert L. McClure on June 10, 1949; they were married for 59 years.She was a homemaker. She owned and operated Mac's Orchard in Greenwood with her husband. She was a member of the Coffee Pot Campers Club of Johnson County. Kathryn started the children's church at Suburban Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking and doing crossword puzzles and loved spending time with her family.Survivors include four children, Gregory L. Harold E. "Sandy" Sanford, 92, of Franklin, passed away Monday, March 29, 2010, at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin.
He was born April 1, 1917, in Franklin, to Noble George and Emma Marie (Conner) Fordyce; they preceded him in death.
Survivors in-clude two sisters, Francas Ramsey and Evangeline Sanford, both of Franklin; a niece, Shirley Kay Roberts of New Whiteland; and three nephews, Ronald Lee VanSickle of Florida, Russell Eugene Roberts of Greenwood and Michael Andrew Roberts of Franklin.
He was preceded in passing by his parents; a sister, Dorothy VanSickle; and his stepfather, Seymour Fordyce.
He had worked for Morgan Canning Factory, packing and selling cola. He also sold Double Cola for Hartmann Double Cola Co. for many years.
He attended First Baptist Church in Franklin. He enjoyed playing harmonica at Paris, Records and Homeview nursing homes. He also played harmonica in the Banner Band at the YMCA.
He enjoyed drawing, art and making crafts. He especially enjoyed his Cadillac.

James Allen Wagaman, 26, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, in Whiteland. He was a resident of Whiteland.
James was born July 27, 1983, in Columbus to William and Melissa (Garrett) Wagaman.
He was employed the past five years at Whiteland Tire as a supervisor.
He liked working on tractors and belonged to the Johnson and Brown County Antique Tractor Club. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting and building derby cars and watching them race. He loved spending time with his daughter, Ashley.
Survivors include his parents, William and Melissa Wagaman of Grabill; his daughter, Ashley Marie Wagaman of Whiteland; two sisters, Gladys Ann (Larry Worsham) Wagaman of South Bend and Laura M. (Jarod) Wagaman Grifford of Benton, Ark.; his grandparents, Katie and James Bennett of New Haven and David Garrett of Kentucky; two nieces and one nephew.

Frank Ernest Watters, 78, died Saturday, March 27, 2010, at St. Francis Hospital in Beech Grove. He was a resident of Greenwood.
Frank was born Sept. 11, 1931, in Greenwood, to Charles and Mamie (Hall) Watters. He married Allene Leach on March 31, 1951. They were married a few days short of 59 years.
He worked for Allison Transmission Division of General Motors Corp. in Indianapolis for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He also owned Frank E. Watters painting in Greenwood for 40 years. Watters was also a U.S. Army veteran.
He was a member of Greenwood Bible Baptist Church. He loved fishing and helping with activities at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Allene Watters of Greenwood; a son, Michael D. Watters of Greenwood; a daughter, Lisa L. Watters of Greenwood; a sister, Agnes Caswell of Greenwood; a granddaughter, Danielle Johnson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Charles, Max, Robert and James Watters; and two sisters, Dorothy Watters and Vivian Wood.

Pauline Imogene (Foist) Hall, 87, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 27, 2010, at her residence in Amity.Survivors include a son, Lymoine C. (Leigh Bradley) Hall; three daughters, Lucinda L. (Wayne) Wilson, Fayetta K. (David) Wesley and Beverly S. (Otto) Wiegert; two sisters, Ruth C. Pinkston and Lettie Jo Garofalo; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Clancy "Junior" Foist; and three sisters, Marie Quick, LaTisha Opp and Stella Pinkston.

Jeremy Scott Spikes, of Franklin, born Oct. 11, 2007, touched the face of God on Sunday, March 21, 2010, at the age of 29 months. Jeremy was born in Avon. Surviving are his loving parents, Allison Wilkins of Franklin and Stuart Spikes of Greenwood; his younger sister, Olivia Spikes, of Franklin, who will miss her Bubby more than words can describe; maternal grandparents, Donna and Mike Austgen of Greenwood and Dorothy Rowland of Martinsville; and fraternal grandparents, Brenda Spikes, Leo Spikes and Helen Spikes, all of Lafayette. Jeremy also is survived by many aunts and uncles, Stephanie Best, Brian Best and Leslie Shoch, all of Greenwood, Jocelyn Wilkins of Illinois, and Evan Spikes, Wes Sanders and Misty Walkup, all of Lafayette. Jeremy had many cousins who adored him, Caleb Best, Connor Best, Trey Best, Lucy Best and Addison Shoch, all of Greenwood, and Dion Walkup, Eden Snap, Kailynn Sanders and Bradlee Sanders, all of Lafayette. Countless other people love Jeremy and will always remember him. He will live in our hearts forever.

Robert John Ryon, 66, passed away Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He was a resident of Trafalgar. He was born Aug. 2, 1943, to the late Elmer and Lucille (Booth) Ryon.
Robert owned and operated Robert Ryon Pest Control in Trafalgar for 40 years. He enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include three children, Timothy (Judy) Ryon of Indianapolis and Carol Balderas and John Ryon Jr., both of Franklin; a sister, Beverly (David) Bush of New Whiteland; a brother, David (Mary) Ryon of Dayton, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Theodorus Hendrikus Wennen, 87, died Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, in Indianapolis. He was a resident of New Whiteland. Theo was born May 10, 1922, in The Hague, Netherlands, to Gerard and Aleida (ten Hengel) Wennen, the ninth of 12 children. He loved God and his family and spending time wrestling with his kids and grandkids.
Survivors include his wife; four children, Martin (Jane) Wennen of Mooresville, Van Theo (Jaci) Wennen of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., Douglas (Marlisa) Wennen of Shirley and Yvonne (Kunle) Wennen-Aluko of Indianapolis; two brothers, Martin Wennen of Mooresville and Jan Wennen of The Hague; and eight grandchildren.

Mary Katherine McGinnis, 90, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009, at her residence in Franklin.
She was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Franklin. Her parents were George D. and Monta E. (Moore) Weddle. She married Robert G. McGinnis on Dec. 19, 1941, in Westfield. He preceded her in death Aug. 24, 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Roger (Judy) McGinnis and Rex McGinnis, both of Franklin; a daughter, Karen (Daniel) Hardin of Franklin; a granddaughter, Jennifer (Scott) Smith of Carmel; and a great-grandson, Conner Smith of Carmel.
Also surviving are two sisters-in-law, Helen Weddle of Franklin and Jane Weddle of Greenwood; and several nieces and nephews.

Cecil D. Groves
Cecil D. Groves, 85, died Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, in Mooresville. He was a resident Mooresville and a former resident of Greenwood and Fort Wayne.
Cecil was born Feb. 2, 1924, in Fort Wayne to Virl and Esther (Cornell) Groves. He married Evelyn (Watson) on April 17, 1976; and she survives.
He was a U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force veteran, retiring from the Indiana Air National Guard as a senior master sergeant after 28 years of service.
He enjoyed woodworking and reading Aviation, Consumer Reports and Popular Mechanics magazines. He and his wife were square dancers. He was affectionate; he and Mother were always holding hands. He was a member of the Fort Wayne American Legion.

Zing Hliang, 79, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at her residence in Indianapolis. Survivors include nine children, the Rev. Dorothy E. (Bledsoe) Davis, 58, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2009, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood.

Robert A. Wade
Robert Arnold "Bob" Wade, 61, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, in Whiteland. He was a resident of Whiteland. Bob was born July 15, 1948, in Indianapolis to Richard A. and Ruth E. (Baker) Wade.He married Brenda Hawkins in March 1980. They were married for 29 years. Bob attended Indianapolis Public School 81 and graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1966. He graduated in 1970 from Indiana Central College, now University of Indianapolis, with a major in music education. He taught music in the Indianapolis Public Schools for four years, but his dream was to work in television. He was a producer-director at WTTV-Channel 4 for many years. He was a freelance sports cameraman for WTTV, ESPN, ABC Sports, NBC Sports, Ligner Motorsports Production and Fox Sports. He also was a cameraman, then director, for the Hoosier Lottery's "Hoosier Millionaire TV Show" for 10 years. After moving to Whiteland in the early 1980s, he became a Whiteland volunteer firefighter. He did this for many years and then passed the torch on to his son, Joshua. He was employed at Fletcher Chrysler Dodge Jeep in Franklin as a salesman for the past seven years, where he leaves many good friends. He loved and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. He has left a void in our lives that will never be filled. Survivors include his wife, Brenda Wade; his mother, Ruth Wade of Greenwood; two children, Amanda (Brad) Sliwinski of Avon and Joshua Wade of Whiteland; a brother, Randy (Andy) Wade of Greenwood; a sister, Roberta (Dennis) Miller of Indianapolis; two grandchildren, Blake McDonald and Corrine Sliwinski of Avon; parents-in-law, Annie and Wayne Singleton and Jack and Carroll Hawkins; and several nieces and nephews and their families, Erin and Sam Rogian and son Tyler, Matthew and Laura Wade and son Landen, Brittney and Stuart Thomas and son Eli, Jenny and Kris Kiger, Jacob Miller, Chad and Cate Hawkins and son Logan, Amy Kauffman and son Zach, and Kimberly Pitcher and children Kaitlyn and Clay Taylor. Cletis C. Cooper, 81, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 15, 2009, at his residence in Whiteland. He was a longtime resident of Whiteland, residing there for more than 40 years. Cletis was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Pickett County, Tenn., to Elbert and Lena (Gunter) Cooper. He was employed by Arvin in Greenwood for 42 years as a forklift operator. He enjoyed fishing, playing guitar, playing cards and watching Westerns, NASCAR and his son's car races. He loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cletis had a great sense of humor, played practical jokes and enjoyed laughing. Survivors include his children, Peggy Ann (Thomas) McLaughlin of Massachusetts, Susie (Ron) Bowen of Greenwood, Robert Clayton (Elizabeth) Cooper and Marty C. (Cindy) Cooper, both of Franklin, and John W. Allene E. (Emerson) Hicks, 84, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Franklin. She was born Dec. 13, 1924, in Liberty, Ky., to Nute and Pina Mae (Scott) Emerson.
She married James D. Hicks in November 1942 in Kentucky. He died in 1981. Allene enjoyed crocheting, making candy, gardening, country music and taking pictures. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Disabled American Veterans of Greenwood and a member of Shiloh Community Church of Franklin. She was employed by Varynit Mills, Dage-Bendix and Specialty Connectors until retiring in 1987. Survivors include a son, James K. (Loretta) Hicks of Franklin; a sister, Flonnie Marple of Kentucky; two grandchildren, Gregory Hicks and Ronda Fletcher, both of Franklin; and four great-grandchildren, Joshua and Jakob Hicks, and Anthony and Krystal Scott, all of Franklin. Vernard W. Kendrick
Vernard W. "Ben" Kendrick went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 13, 2009, after a brief illness. He was a resident of Greenwood. He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Shickshinny, Pa., to William Beach and Lillian Viola (Lutz) Kendrick. His early ambition was to become a professional baseball player, and he played with a semiprofessional team and tried out for the St. Louis Cardinals. At the Star of Hope Mission in Paterson, N.J., he committed his life to the Lord for foreign missions, and from then on he was on the Lord's team. On June 19, 1948, he married Nina May Brownell, who survives. They were married for 61 years. After graduating from Baptist Bible Seminary in Johnson City, N.Y., he and Nina left for language study in France and then moved on to Africa. Together, Ben and Nina served as missionaries under Baptist Mid-Missions in Chad and Central African Republic. While in Central African Republic, they were house parents at a boarding school for missionary children. He also was involved in church planting and teaching in a Bible school for African pastors. During his final term, he served as the field administrator in the capital city of Bangui. He then served in the home office until his retirement in 1989. His ministry continued in preaching, in camp ministry and most recently as an administrator and teacher at Indiana Baptist College in Greenwood. Uncle Ben, or Dr. Ben, as he was known to hundreds of young and old alike, was quite a storyteller, and he authored eight books, one of which he co-authored with Nina. Ben was known for his love of dill pickles with chocolate cake. He was an avid Indianapolis Colts and Cleveland Indians fan. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marvin Kendrick. Surviving are the couple's three children, Pamela (and husband Jeff) Cook of Warsaw, Peter (and wife Deborah) Kendrick of Cortland, Ohio, and Paul Kendrick of Greenwood; his brother, Homer Kendrick of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Kris Kendrick and Erin (and husband Jeremy) Beigh; seven step grandchildren, Ryan (and wife Stacie) Cook, Matthew Cook, Michael Cook, Kody Cook, Collins (and wife Katie) Brown, Chase Brown and McKenzie Brown; and two great-step grandchildren, Kayla Beigh and Taylyn Cook. Mary E. (Lewis) McClain, 85, died Tuesday, July 14, 2009, at Greenwood Village Pavilion. She was a resident of Franklin. She was born Feb. 19, 1924, to the late Herbert and Hattie (Sims) Lewis. She was married to Loren D. McClain, who preceded her in death. They were the parents of five precious children. Survivors include four children, Loren "Buck" (Betty) McClain and Devon Dee Rybolt, both of Franklin, Beverly K. Druley (Lou Sullivan) of Avon and Kelly (Kevin) Roethemeier of Whiteland; two sisters, Bernice Martin of Franklin and Norma Deckard of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Steve McClain, Carrie Baldwin, Ashley Hubbard, Matthew Cooper, Karlee Tucker and Michael Rybolt; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

July 8, 2009, was the coronation day for Dorothy Ellen Stephenson. Dorothy passed peacefully from this life into the next life, as she went home to be with her lord and savior Jesus Christ in Beech Grove. Dorothy was born June 24, 1917, in Milton, Ky., to Benjamin F. and Anna E. (Mitchell) Coghill. Dorothy was a resident of New Whiteland. She and her husband owned and operated the D&J Market in Amity for more than 25 years. Dorothy also was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a charter member of Friendship Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, her flower garden, cooking and reading and loved being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Suzanne Irene (LeBeau) Julian, 56, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood. She was born Oct. 13, 1952, in Bluffton. She was a graduate of University High School in Bloomington. She had been employed in advertising sales at the Southside Times for 15 years. She also had worked at Sears. For many years she was a Civil War re-enactor, teaching, designing and making authentic Civil War-era clothing. She served on the Old Town Greenwood merchants and revitalization committees. She enjoyed gardening. She was married Aug. 5, 2000, to architect David Julian, who survives. Other survivors include six brothers and sisters, Christine (Mike) Hirsch of Heritage Lake, Jeanette (Mark) Roberts of Unionville, Steve (Genie) LeBeau of Loveland, Colo., and Richard LeBeau, the Rev. David (Natalie) LeBeau and Jeff (Chris) LeBeau, all of Bloomington; her parents, Robert C. and Vivian I. Doris Beatrice (Henzman) Chaney, 76, died Wednesday, June 24, 2009, in Indianapolis. She was a resident of Greenwood. Judge Robert E. Smith
Robert "Bob" Earle Smith, 85 World War II Army Air Forces P-51 pilot and former Johnson Superior Court Judge, died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. He is survivied by his wife of 51 years (married April 4, 1958) Imogene (Middleton) Smith and their five children, Theresa (Douglas) Cole, Clayton (wendy) Smith, Mariana Huffman, Alexander Smith and Jonathan Smith. He also is survived by 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was a resident of Greenwood since 1958. Robert Leon McClure, 85, died Friday May 1, 2009 at Community Hospital South in Indianapolis. Robert was born Feb. 2, 1924 in Indianapolis to Albert and Lillian (Clark) McClure. He married Kathryn Walton on June 10, 1949 in Indianapolis. They were married for 59 years. Robert was a design draftsman for Eli Lilly &Co. for 34 years, retiring in 1983. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was a Purple Heart Recipient. He was owner of Mac’s orchard in Greenwood. A member of the Coffee Pot Campers Club of Johnson Co. and past member of Johnson Radio Controlled Airplane Club. Survivors include his wife Kathryn McClure of Greenwood, four children, Gregory L. McClure of Indianapolis, Mary Kathryn (David) Pritchard of Columbus, Dale Robert (Lynn) McClure of Romeoville, Ill and Laura (Steve) Fledderjohn of Greenwood, one sister, Mary Ellen Devlin of Perris Calif., nine grandchildren, Amanda (Jeff) Gray, Benjamin, Emily, and Stephany Blanton, Kyle and Kaylin McClure, Michelle, Douglas and Scott Fledderjohn and four step- grandchildren, Elizabeth and Michael Pritchard, Shannon and Holly. Lois B. (Reed) Fruits, 77, died Wednesday, April 29, 2009, in San Antonio. She was a resident of Greenwood. She was born May 2, 1931, in Chrisney. She was a teacher from 1954 to 1996, most recently at Maple Grove Elementary in the Center Grove school district. She enjoyed gardening, riverboats and family vacations. She was an avid Colts and Pacers fan. Survivors include three children, Scott (Karen) Fruits of Greenwood, Steve (Darla) Fruits of New Whiteland and Angie Fruits of Indianapolis; a brother, Byford (Jessie) Reed of Greenwood; six grandchildren, Natalie (Geoff) Nelson, and Chad, Evan, Leann, Tyler and Austin Fruits; and two great-grandchildren, Adalynn Fruits and Gavin Nelson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen and Blanche (Roos) Reed; and her husband, John Fruits.
